Ah, the wonderful somogyi effect followed by Dawn phenomenon? Isn’t the endocrine system wonderful, unless one part of it has crashed and burned! I suspect the som and the dawn are two names for the same thing. My bloods always rise a bit if I get up to go to the bathroom in the early hours, but then they realise it’s a false alarm and settle down again. However, they get a lovely liver boost when I do get up. We’re your ancestors farmers, getting up in the early hours to milk the cows and bequeathing you a lovely epigenetic gift?
From my family name, probably! What I don't get is why it only happens sometimes....but then there's so much about T1 not to get half the time....

Thanks @karen8967, not so long ago I reduced my overnight basal as I kept waking hypo. I only cut it by 1u which seemed to work - except for when it doesn't! :banghead::banghead::banghead:
i have a half unit pen im so sensetive to the insulin that 1 whole unit is too much for me to reduce by but the half seems to work well enough.:)

Hello friends,

I have been able to get a delivery slot from Tesco for today. I’ve been okay for the most part, just a tad high but not dangerously high. I don’t know if I’m getting better though, it’ll be my 10th day today. I can also confirm that it does give you stomach trouble. So I understand why people are hoarding toilet paper.
I’m more worried about my bf, his symptoms aren’t as dramatic as mine and the residents. My bf keeps reminding me that someone at the care home has it and doesn’t know so that’s why I feel rubbish.

Sorry to read how you are being made to feel @MeiChanski .
You were working in a professional role in a relatively new job, providing care.
Done with the best intentions & good faith..

Stay positive.

Morning all. @karen8967 and @Fairygodmother thanks for that info; I use Lantus and I didn't know about the junior solostar pen, I'll explore that.

Wind is raging here in Somerset this morning, when I let the dog out she went crazy running round the garden and chasing blowing leaves. I don't know if the rain will reach me here in the east of the county; think it might, and I could do without it with a wind like this, especially for walking which I'll be doing shortly.

Woke on a 5.3 today - happy to see that at last! and hope your days started as well and stay steady. Have a good one and @MeiChanski hope you feel better.

Good morning all. The wind in Somerset sounds like the best dog treat for weeks @hh1, and good to know, too, that you’ll look to take advantage of the 0.5 unit pen option.
It’s breezy here, high is pleasantly invigorating. If you’ve got the vigour. I’ve a tinge of puppy energy envy, don’t think I’ll be chasing leaves today.
4.9 on waking: perfect. Just wishing I had a 0.25 pen as the 9.5 units basal yesterday meant highs in the afternoon, but 10 had meant lows. I’m such a sensitive little flower ;)

Good morning, it's colder today and dark too. Talked via video yesterday with my daughter and little granddaughter, she liked me doing the Incy Wincy spider actions, I miss them so much and it was daughter's birthday on Sunday too, my son's was in April.
Awoke on 6.6, which is good, so going to have another cuppa, washing is on, a cuddle with Pebbles cat and read more of my book
Take care and be safe X

hh1 i have 2 half unit pens that i used for lantus you would have to change to vials of insulin rather than the ready filled ones you are quite welcome to have the pens if you want them xx

Morning all! Giving my eyes a break from detailed proofreading today. I think I've broken the back of the first very messed up document, finally. The other documents in the series should be easier after that one. I hope. (Long story, but it's better in the long-term for my blood pressure and temper to do this particular kind of proofreading, for which I have unusually well-developed specialised knowledge and skills for the subject matter, for someone else who I have yet to decide if it can't or won't learn to be more particular about written detail when other people are going to have to use the documents. I spend the time when I do have to use the documents getting stressed about poor formatting as do others. But, I feel no compunction to rush this as I'd been waiting for them to appear for 18 months at least.)

So, three loads of laundry all on the line drying rapidly in the breeze, and a moment of glory about accessing the photos on the camera which died. Yes, I finally remembered I could put the SD card straight into the computer and access them that way. I'm a slow learner. in such matters.

Except, it was nearly my undoing as I forgot I'd used the camera the day before it gave up for getting some photo evidence at work so a motley array of students working was there. (All deleted now after I'd checked I'd uploaded them to a work area in case we needed them!) As I remember, Young Vampire was coaxed into doing some work with the bribe of taking some of the photos.

Wow Karen that's kind of you! I don't use disposable pens so that'd be no problem if you really don't mind?

Good morning, a little high overnight waking on a 10mmol but I at an 11g KitKat before bed as it appeared I was dropping but the Libre must have been pulling my chain. I mentioned in another thread that last month I cycled 220 miles and it'll have been a little more as I didn't start using 'Strava' till the end of the first week so I'm pleased about that :) I'd prefer free weights and the gym and swimming pool but a pushbike's not a bad alternative :)

Just been out for our daily walk. We have a lake near us so we walked there to feed the ducks. The car park was really busy, all the other times we had been there had been at most 2 or 3 cars, this time around 25. Lots of people making no effort to avoid on the path etc. Don’t think we’ll be going at lunchtime again, it’s really tricky telling my little girl not to sit on the benches, keep your distance etc when she can see a load of people doing it.
