Type 1'stars R Us

Libre are currently offering a two week trial free; would you qualify for that? They may say no to a previous user though if you explained why you stopped they may be willing to offer you a freebie.

I also tested a lot when first diagnosed, though never less than 4 times a day and often much more. I know you said you were down to testing once a day before lockdowns though I wonder if your reluctance is reinforced by the weird times we're living in, or just burnout? Glad your lack of testing doesn't seem to have done much harm, but please be careful in the long run....

@Marie 2 I'm a Libre user and I check each morning against my meter. If the Libre's in agreement, I don't finger prick for the rest of the day unless I'm hypo or it just feels wrong.
 
Good afternoon, hope you are all keeping well. I'm on 2 weeks Easter break from school and it has flown by so quickly already.
My daughter moved out Easter Saturday to live with her boyfriend, they have a 2 bedroom house, just a 15/20 minutes walk away. She has so much stuff, especially clothes and shoes and lots of rubbish too ( which is still there, but I did go and empty the wardrobe yesterday afternoon, it's draws, stuff shoved down the side and underneath too lol
So, it's just me and Autumn cat now, it's been a weird week, a bit unsettling, but in time I'll get used to it.
On the diabetes front, lots of hypo's, diabetes nurse is phoning me Monday afternoon, so hoping she will listen and give good advice.
Hope you had a pleasant Easter, the weather here was lovely.

I can see better than ever,and going to start looking for another job as soon as I’m cleared for driving.
Yes children grow up an fly the roost all too quickly ,but at least she’s not too far away,and I’m betting she will be round frequently for tea and advice

Awww, thank you Mr Clive and Molly, you both have been and still are lovely friends. You've done a few jobs, so what would you fancy doing now ? It sounds as though your cataract operation went well, I'm so pleased for you.
I have my 2nd jab on April 20th, the day I go back to work.
 
@hh1 The first couple of days with a restart or a new sensor (Dexcom) I finger stick several times and calibrate and then I don’t fingerstick for days, maybe once half way through? (Unless something seems off) I would do the same when I was on a Libre, check it several times the first couple of days to know how it was reading and only check it once or twice for the rest of the 14 days.

But I am avid about watching my Dexcom which is why I leave a sensor off for a day or two as I was getting hooked on constant surveillance of my numbers. But when I’m not wearing a sensor, I finger stick all day.

I do have a Libre half of the time, I actually literally forget about it as I use it just for swimming. I chalk the cost of the Libre up to the cost of being able to swim and keeping me safe (my insurance pays for the Dexcom, but not both)

@urbanracer There are several things people use when they have allergies to the adhesive.
Patches- 3M cavilon, trio elisse, Opsite Flexifix, tegaderm, (tegaderm is more questionable I think).
Wipes and sprays- Bard protective barrier film wipes, Hollister skin gel protective wipe, Skin prep wipes, benedryl cream and flonase spray. Skin prep wipes seem to stand out as a more popular choice and I have heard the flonase spray works quite well.

It is trial and error for what works for you sometimes. And what's available.

The days I take off from a sensor does remind me how much it saves my fingers from finger sticking all the time and how nicer it is having one.

@Antje77 My Dexcom (bluetooth tech) does not want to communicate underwater. So I would have to try to hold up my arm to get a reading. And for about 10 minutes plus, as for some reason the Dexcom takes a long time to communicate all the missing information before it will give you a current reading.

I use a stash waterproof pouch to put my Libre reader in and wear the Libre sensor on my thigh for convenience and literally I can just hit the button to turn it on and it scans underwater without any issues and gives me an instant reading.

It has helped tremendously to let me stay as long as I want or as long as I can because of BG levels. Before I would have to cut it off after about 45-60 minutes as I knew I stayed at a safe range usually. And I would have to worry more with tougher swims. And if I got a slight headache or even just got cold I would have to head in for safety reasons as I can not tell when I am low when swimming for some reason. Since I can tell what my blood sugar is doing it has also given me the freedom of going way out from shore because I know what my blood sugars are trending. It's been a blessing!

I'm pretty sure you already told me this exact solution a very long time ago, long enough for me to forget
Most of the year the weather is only fit to swim in heated pools. I've tackled that problem nicely by leaving my phone or reader in a waterproof bag on the edge of the pool during the boring lap swimming or subscription classes so I can swim up to it and scan, exactly as you say, after about 40 minutes, as that's when I start to drop.
Before lockdown when I was swimming during the 'free play' hours with friends I had to come out to test because it was impossible to safely leave it at the edge of the pool. I still haven't dared to take it with me in the water, waterproof bag or no, and that's what I'll need to feel safe swimming outdoors again come summer. I'll go experiment with it! Thanks again!
 
Morning all, beautiful day here, just been to the local market with my dog - she needs some socialisation rather than just walking fields, and behaved very well. I'm now off to take advantage of the weather and mow some grass. Have a good day whatever you're doing!
 
My house is full of the little caps that cover needles. My arthritic fingers drop them and I cannot see where. Husband finds them with his bare feet though.

I bang everything in the relivant bin in the kitchen when changing stuff over.

But my wife uses my music studio as a work base from home since COVID & has to stare at the new stuff boxed on the shelving.

Lol, she had a conference call the other day & I had it set up for recording. She decided to use my PC.
There was no sound. They couldn't hear her.. Yeah, turn on the mixing desk. Use the mic, put on the cans.

Living alone, I's always my own feet to find them. They're worse then legos.

Mine are orange. I use the Klinion brand, maybe you can change to a brand with bright colored caps?
