Type 1'stars R Us

Actually she has a bit of an argument with her mother, my sister about it quite often. As my sister tends to nag her about her diet. I can see why it annoys her so much she was diagnosed as a teenager and is now 39 with 2 little children. Has her problems but very confident girl. Niece being annoyed i mean and understandably i think.

Some do some don't then again it might have just be a kid thing where it is difficult to get any convesation out of them.

And yes you "do just get used to it" well most do anyway, having read around the site and seen some of the Mental Health issues around both T2D and T1D some do struggle with injections, seems espically so if you are diagnoised later on in life.

I bleeding HATE injections...not too bad doing them myself (;)) BUT if a nurse or Dr comes near me it is sheer panic. I have been known to pass out having bloods done. And my all time friend the DENTIST I loath going to see him, probably the only man in the world that scares me lol

Some don't get used to it ;)

Oh come on its not that big :hilarious: certainly no bigger than we used to use back in the 70's with the glass syringes :eek: they were at least an inch long :yuck:
 
Even after 37 years as a type 1, I still hate injections, like Porl69 I am fine with my own injections. BUT whenever I have to have bloods taken always have to look away. Think this is also one of the reasons I try to put off going to dentist as well.

Worst injection was when I was having surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. An injection into the hand and the needle was the size of a pole vaulters pole and about as sharp. OMG the pain, but this numbed immediately and had a further 3 injections luckily felt nothing after that

Actually, now I think about the only injections I do dislike, are canulars into the vein on the hand, I do find those most discomforting.

same here i become a wreck when i need the dentist :bigtears:

Totally agree....I will often refuse them unless absolutely necessary and then will make a BIG fuss about who does them lol. My misses reckons I am a right ***** lmao

But I grin and bear it - every year when they take my bloods pre-annual review and every year when they give me my flu jab,

You have hit the nail on the head. Its about being in control of the injections. I have huge veins as well. Am plastered in tattoos and the nurses ALWAYS say "you are covered in tattoos, you shouldn't be scared of a little needle".....that always brings out my dark side lol

It was supposed to be HATE but my tattooist is dyslexic and it says HEAT on my right hand and LOAF on my left hand:playful::playful:

None on my hands or face or neck BUT 1 full sleeve and 1 half sleeve plus a few more dotted around

I also hate having bloods taken, I tend to do a little run beforehand in a puffa jacket to get the veins pumping. Last year I successfully managed to keep pumping blood even after the nurse took the needle out creating a bit of a mess all over the floor, fortunately I got the giggles despite the nurse panicking so hasn’t left a lasting impression.

Haha, I've had the same tattoo line too a few times :) but I'm a wuss when having my blood taken, never had a problem injecting insulin but hate Phlebotomists (aye I know, I looked it up :p ) a trainee missed 3 times once when soon diagnosed and I've got good veins and a long memory....

Cold out now so I've come home for lunch, weighing up whether to swim & gym or just gym, sitting at 4.7 I'll need a snack for the gym and a bigger snack to swim so may sack that :) I've a skip trip to do too but may do that shortly before it closes for quieter roads as there's roadworks on my route across town.

Debating if to make a chilli con carné from some steak mince out of the freezer or chicken curry for tea, decisions decisions....
