I'm going to be the odd one out here as I don't mind Hypo's as I can control them relatively easily but they do on occasion catch me out.

Its Hyper's I hate, as I find them really hard to deal with but as I am swapping insulins next week we shall see what that does.
Yeah, while hypos are hateful because I can’t drive anywhere or go back to sleep until they’re sorted, hypers that take hours to come down really boil my, er, urine. I over corrected my 2.8 this morning and couldn’t get it down again until lunchtime :banghead:

Yep fully get where you are coming from :)

Morning all! Like our @Robinredbreast I woke at a 2.8, so am sitting with a coffee waiting for it to come up. Had a bit of a hypo the last couple of mornings so will tweak the Omnibot a bit for then. I suppose it’s just (JUST! Who am I kidding? This is T1!) a case of matching the insulin delivery profile to my body’s needs... Had a lovely smooth line up until that point.

No idea what’s on the agenda today, husband had a nasty vertigo episode yesterday (he has them since almost dying of viral encephalitis a few years ago) while I was getting my puncture repaired, fell and faceplanted the wall. He’s now sporting a purple egg on his forehead which looks like I’ve hit him with a lump of 2x4... he was sick too, so I suspect a mild concussion.

Spent a quiet evening painting Omnipods last night, just need to varnish them. Currently sporting a metallic purple pod with a black filigree design :borg:

After returning home from town, I started talking to my daughter, she said ' er mum I think you might be low' so I said okay I will test and it was 2.7 :banghead: she is amazing at spotting a hypo, I asked her how she knows and she said, by the way I was talking ( but I sounded quite normal:rolleyes:) and by my eye's. She is 100% right every time, but I had no symptoms whatsoever :wideyed: 4.5 before dinner and took less Insulin.
Hope hubby is feeling a little better now, ouch :inpain:

I had a nice lunch in town ( went to M&S cafe, but no GF foods, so the girl said I could get a sandwich from the food hall and bring it up. I had Chicken and avocado, but you would need a magnifying glass to find the Avo lol, but it was nice anyway and a good natter with my friend, we were putting the world to right's :D Bought a Jelly mold from a charity shop, bric a brac half price...................so £1.13 and a pair of silver and gold earrings from Warren James. Chicken is cooking and after dinner, I will be watching the best Star War's film ever, from 1977, with Hans Solo, Chewy, C3PO, R2D2, Darth Vada,Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi, love it :happy:

The £1.13 Jelly mold, a Bargain ( Hunt) ;) :)

Good evening all you wonderful people . Just though I’d pop my head around the corner and say “ hi “.
Finally moved in to the new abode on Wednesday and haven’t really stopped to do anything other than bungalowey stuff since.
Getting settled now and loving our new life even if it is a bit manic at the moment.
A lovely little 2.9 earlier reminded me that I haven’t managed to find pastures new on all fronts.
I would have a guess and say I’ve given about 15 mins to my diabetes since Wednesday, just the bare essentials, injections and finger prick tests (no Dexcom). Food as been what is ever to hand when required.
Tomorrow will be the start of a new week and I’ll get my head back into life being me and my diabetic buddy. He’s been very well behaved all things considered.
Have a nice evening everyone.:):)

Great to see you posting @therower :)

If I remember correctly, you've recently started using libre?

First couple of weeks I was using it, it was mainly for spotting hypos before they happened, but I was still caught up in the old ways of it's a hypo so scoof a Twix, then high, rinse and repeat.

But after a few more weeks of using it, just through being able to see how things were moving on the graph, I started playing around with just one or two dextrotabs when I was getting to around 4.5 and was really surprised to see how much that tiny amount would nudge it up enough to level things off without ending up hyper.

I used to think, ok, it's T1, so these rollercoasters happen, it's what it is, but libre has been a bit of a revelation, so many ways to be more subtle with it.

Hi Scott, yes I got the Libre in June and it has defo improved my control. As it is so instant I find that i am trying sail very close to the edge a lot, eg around 5. Maybe not helping that I am also having a much reduced carb intake, but find that I am still overestimating the insulin I take.

Even when I see the line dropping to around 4.5 and below I will take maybe 5/6 jelly beans. But I am finding that 15 mins later its still dropping so I take a few more. It still drops to maybe 3.5 and below I then start to panic slightly, so its coffee with 2 sugar and a few biccies. Even after that it may only go to 6 after 45 mins or so. Then the revenge of the sugar kicks in about 2/3 hours later with 10+.

My control has improved a lot with Libre thanks mainly to constant checks, usually around 20 per day and taking correction doses.

I was very much a 3 injections and fixed amount of insulin person until fairly recently, so after 37 years its taking a bit of time to get there, but get there I will..... eventually

Are you doing any blood tests when you’ve got these delays in responding to your jelly beans? I keep forgetting the 15 minute lag and overtreat because I think it’s not working...

Welcome back

So, why during the night did I drop from 8-3 when I’d had no insulin since 3pm in the afternoon. But today I had brekkie and insulin at 6am and every time I tested throughout the day I was 8-8.7. I didn’t eat again until 4.30pm. Was out all day at a Hen Harrier event and on my feet for hours so didn’t want to risk extra insulin to correct. Just tested again and I’m 8. Spooky! Just need to stay at 8 through the night.

@therower Glad you got moved eventually. Enjoy your new home.

It still drops to maybe 3.5 and below I then start to panic slightly,

Libre does some bat-sh*t crazy things at sub-4 levels. It exaggerates drops and then just stays down there in the 3s even when we're trotting along happily in the high 4s after some sugar.

When I first started using it, I ended up testing way more than I normally did for a week or two to get a clearer idea of how it worked.

Because of that, if I see a fast drop starting from about 5, I'll pin it with a few grams, the reader will still likely drop to below 4 but I'll not pay too much attention to that, because experience shows that it's not yet caught up with the dextrotabs I've got on board. If I'm in doubt, I'll bg test.

Is that drop the basal peaking?

I think I've had my best day of blood sugars today, since I first got T1D. So that's one out of 15,332 days.

The Freestyle Libre has to get the credit for this.

The only problem is, apart from a bit of guitar playing, and a trip to the shops, I didn't do much all day, so I was able to watch it closely. Also my blood sugar is back to behaving in a more predictable way, after a week of behaving badly, which makes it a lot easier. Which isn't really sustainable.

I suppose I could have had as a good a day at some point in those 42 years, but I very much doubt it.

Feels quite strange.

I do and I find that pretty much my Libre and finger tests are about the same. Sometimes the jelly beans are still doing very little after 30 mins, so I start to panic slightly, hence the coffee, sugar and biccies
