Type 1'stars R Us

Hi @JAT1 ,

Nice to see you here.

No, you don't have to read it all... I don't!

Hello @JAT1 and welcome to this lovely thread. Um, given it's taken us all over 6 months to get to 10,000+ replies, it'll probably take that long to read it! Just join in, it'll be easier....

Decided to stay local in the end and see if I could walk these stubborn higher than usual numbers down, which I seem to have managed. At least, I'm back down to the 6s.

Back to normal routines tomorrow, so hopefully it'll sort then.

Welcome of the fun that is this thread, @JAT1 the best type 1 thread there is. We do not take ourselves too seriously on here, we talk about anything and everything, nothing is off limits.

You will not meet a friendlier or more helpful bunch. The knowledge on here is second to none. We have folks who diagnosed a few months ago to folks with nearly 50 years of being type 1.

If you ever need any help/ information, please feel free to ask, someone will always help out. Even if you just want a rant or a moan we are always here

Just don't mention the war (oops).

A model citizen !!

Hi @Japes, the universe appears not to be in your favour today. There is always hope for tomorrow. I figure there is a perpetual battle between the good and no-so-good diabetes gremlins and the only outcomes allowed by physics are win-lose, tie. lose-win. Best Wishes. Of course the lawyers would argue for percentage win and loss but the physics is complicated enough without bringing more complexity in (and extra billing hours)!!

Welcome @JAT1! Glad you like the zany atmosphere! Ask away and there will be a serious, half-serious, witty, hilarious answer (one or more of the above).

Night night everyone, calm dreams

PS, Knikki, did you see the original Captain Scarlet and his maker on Antiques Roadshow this evening? (I’m not a fan of the la-de-da or the cost-not-aesthetics but I enjoy seeing the artefacts)

Thank you for the good night wishes, @Fairygodmother. Whilst calmness may have reigned in the Northern Hemisphere's night, my personal experience in the 'Downunder' was a bit turbulent, not due to any BSL issue mind, just the fact that I watched a very moving and emotional movie last night. Yes, I broke the sleep hygiene rule of not watching scary or emotional films before bed time. (the movie was Little Boy Blue, depicting the story of an 11 year old killed by chance in the UK). I am not saying that this is typical of UK, it could've happened anywhere).
But on a philosophical level do we need to watch/read/experience such things? Are we better off avoiding emotion for the sake of tranquility, BSLs and such? Or would we be stunted emotionally by not seeking to understand what people go through?

Morning all, hi @JAT1.

Busy day yesterday, a bit slow as recovering from the universe teaching me not ever, ever, ever to be smug. My delightful start to Saturday was Mel's catted in the evening when I misjudged long term effect of a decent (for me) swim after lunch, and the amount of carbs (not many either way!) in dinner and plunged to a 2 something pretty low and spent some time playing catch up with jelly babies. If you ever hear me sounding smug again, please issue a warning so I can humble myself rapidly before T1 does it for me

So not avoid smugness, do not put all your jelly babies into the one swimming pocket before swimming??
Or is it eggs in a basket ??

Good morning teabags all, and may the pretty colours of the sunrise here paint your day.
I think the human love of viewing depravity and disaster from a position of comfort is inbuilt, @kitedoc, maybe it shows us how to avoid it? Personally I don’t like war films, gore, psycho drama etc but I think lots do. T1 means juggling every day to avoid enough frustration and embarrassment to last most lifetimes. Cue a script - inappropriate times for lows, delays while getting good to drive, embarrassing utterances when a hypo steals a bag of inhibitions, adrenaline rage, face stuffing, jelly baby murder . . . May today be free of these for all you lovely colanders!

No missed it. I don't often watch the show I'm afraid.

Morning All

First day back proper and already I am watching the clock and looking to book holidays.

Hello @JAT1

No, you are totally and utterly allowed to be smug anytime you wish especially when you have a good run
