Hello Type Ones !!! Wishing you all a very happy day. This is my first post on this thread which can appear daunting with 512 pages and over 10,200 replies, so I just jumped to nearly the end hoping it's not necessary to read all. I was diagnosed only 5.5 months ago but I was experiencing symptoms for a year before that. I have been struggling with all the related issues but dealing just fine with it (due to all of the information gained here from you guys) - no complaints. This forum is a wonderful place . . .

Welcome of the fun that is this thread, @JAT1 the best type 1 thread there is. We do not take ourselves too seriously on here, we talk about anything and everything, nothing is off limits.............
A model citizen !!Good morning
I'm off for a walk today. But before I set off I have 3 loaves of bread to bake, two loads of laundry to was, 1 pile of dishes to wash and a pack lunch to sort out.
Up at 8pm(very early for a Sunday) and waiting for the last loaf to bake. The second load of laundry is in so bf can hang that out. Washing up done. Soup blended and poured into thermos for lunch. Think I should be ready with boots to start 10 mile hike on at 10:45. Not sure how awake I'll be though.
Hi @Japes, the universe appears not to be in your favour today. There is always hope for tomorrow. I figure there is a perpetual battle between the good and no-so-good diabetes gremlins and the only outcomes allowed by physics are win-lose, tie. lose-win. Best Wishes. Of course the lawyers would argue for percentage win and loss but the physics is complicated enough without bringing more complexity in (and extra billing hours)!!I was supposed to be going out with a friend for the rest of today, but friend's had to cry off, so I'm sitting trying to decide if I'm going to go ahead with the plan or do something local instead. (We were going on an hour's train trip.) I don't particularly want to sit around succumbing to end of holiday doom and gloom.
Plus, either I've got a bad batch of test strips, or my Novorapid has gone off halfway through, or just being out of routine has had my blood sugars higher than usual. Or my ratios need rethinking. Or I'm having an insulin resistant spell. Or my entire system is sulking because I'm denying it the level of carbs it was quite enjoying... (I can report that the joint achiness has gone away just two days in!) Any of the above are suspects in this outrage. I'll do all the usual stuff before I throw a tantrum.
Ah. My socks don't match my tee-shirt. I'll blame that for today. (No idea why, but I usually do have tee-shirt and socks matching colours...)
Welcome @JAT1! Glad you like the zany atmosphere! Ask away and there will be a serious, half-serious, witty, hilarious answer (one or more of the above).Hello Type Ones !!! Thank you for the good night wishes, @Fairygodmother. Whilst calmness may have reigned in the Northern Hemisphere's night, my personal experience in the 'Downunder' was a bit turbulent, not due to any BSL issue mind, just the fact that I watched a very moving and emotional movie last night. Yes, I broke the sleep hygiene rule of not watching scary or emotional films before bed time. (the movie was Little Boy Blue, depicting the story of an 11 year old killed by chance in the UK). I am not saying that this is typical of UK, it could've happened anywhere).Night night everyone, calm dreams
So not avoid smugness, do not put all your jelly babies into the one swimming pocket before swimming??Morning all, hi @JAT1.
Busy day yesterday, a bit slow as recovering from the universe teaching me not ever, ever, ever to be smug. My delightful start to Saturday was Mel's catted in the evening when I misjudged long term effect of a decent (for me) swim after lunch, and the amount of carbs (not many either way!) in dinner and plunged to a 2 something pretty low and spent some time playing catch up with jelly babies. If you ever hear me sounding smug again, please issue a warning so I can humble myself rapidly before T1 does it for me
PS, Knikki, did you see the original Captain Scarlet and his maker on Antiques Roadshow this evening? (I’m not a fan of the la-de-da or the cost-not-aesthetics but I enjoy seeing the artefacts)
