What a great idea @helensaramay thanks. How long after munching do you think might be a good idea to retest?Evening all
I am frittering away 4 hours at the airport on my way home by entertaining myself with diabetes discussions and Brexit updates and counting the number of armed security staff (at least 12) and a bit of work thrown in.
BG has been misbehaving most of the day - I started high, got it down pre-fork-eaten yoghurt, miscalculated lunch and then didn't have a chance to test/correct during an intensive 3 hour meeting.
@SueJB have you tried breaking a fast with a single fruit pastille to work out how much it raises your BG. I did this with Glucotabs some time ago and now adjust my fast acting carb intake dependent on the "depth of my hypo" and insulin on board. As a result, I may correct with anything between one and 5 Glucotabs and avoid "overshooting" most of the time.
@Shellback good on ya for walking to work. My job is not done by a robot (although I feel like one sometimes) but my commute takes 5 minutes and there are few people around until 9am so my curtains would be well drawn at 7am.
I used to have a job where the commute took 40 minutes if I left before 7:30 and nearer 90 minutes if I left any later so my lights were on at that time but I have decided I prefer the shorter commute and far less time in the car (and less money spent on petrol).
Now I work from home, I miss the unwinding walk at the end of the day ... I guess that is one reason why I go to the gym.
@Knikki are the Captain Scarlet series family movies for you?
Sweet! As they are supposed to be "fast acting", I don't think you need to wait long - probably 15 to 30 minutes.
Don't be tempted to snack or run a marathon or get ill in that time!
Gah, was just logging in and hoping I’d beaten you to it this morning!Good morning everyone enjoy your day
Gah, was just logging in and hoping I’d beaten you to it this morning!
Good morning Karen & Mel, God’s morning all (bronze)
Maate, morning here was 12 hours ago! Good to see you are up early catching the proverbial worm!!Gah, was just logging in and hoping I’d beaten you to it this morning!
Ah @Japes, our sun comes in from the north. Something is obviously mucking up the sun's direction, with mirrors or something. Do you thing we will ever find who is responsible?@Shellback - I do leave for work on a walk to work day around 7.00 a.m. so if you walk past my house at 7.00 a.m. most weekday mornings the curtains are drawn and the lights are off, but that's because my curtains are permanently drawn unless I've got visitors! (South-east facing room, my eyes don't like bright sunlight, protects my books from sun damage are among the reasons I rarely open my curtains. I'd much rather replace sun-damaged curtains regularly.) I started doing the walk for my blood sugars, but have grown to really enjoy walking for all kinds of reasons.
Unintentional basal test day today. Day time basal rates excellent, I am pleased to report. Food has now eaten for the first time in 48 hours! Sunday night saw me to-ing and fro-ing from bed to bathroom on an hourly basis, not always fast enough (do not think about the laundry, or the middle of the night floor mopping after Hour 3). Blood sugars rocketed after hour 2 and stayed there until this morning. Hence the basal test, since I was banned from work for 48 hours and not going anywhere.
Feeling a bit washed out still, but will be going back to work tomorrow, it's an easy day, relatively. Unless there's been complete anarchy in my absence.
As my dad used to say, 'You can please some of the people all of the time; you can please all of the people some of the time; but you can't please all the people all of the time. And some people you can never please!'They are never going to come up with a deal or plan that the majority are happy with.................
How about a small bolus with your exercise? Or just after?running on an empty stomach leads to a BG rise
Theresa May and Brexit are responsible for it!!Ah @Japes, our sun comes in from the north. Something is obviously mucking up the sun's direction, with mirrors or something. Do you thing we will ever find who is responsible?
Then they must be in cahoots with whatever the Aussie Govt is cooking up on this side of the planet !!Theresa May and Brexit are responsible for it!!
It is still very pretty and a nice flat graph. Congrats. As my dad used to say, 'You can please some of the people all of the time; you can please all of the people some of the time; but you can't please all the people all of the time. And some people you can never please!'
Well, after another half-forgotten teatime bolus, I went to bed a bit high, but didn't fancy a night full of alarms, so didn't want to risk over-correcting it. So night-time stayed around 8, but it's coming down now.
