It didn't go well, no call, panicking and in the end I went up the Job Centre by bus. I have written, in length about The Horror's of Universal Credit on the Benefit's section. So upset about what happened today.
Thank you for asking Karen x
sorry to hear this robs big hugs hope you get it sorted soon:(

I just read that....horror is a very polite word for what you went thru there! They try to belittle people so much.

Morning All
Nothing to do with diabetes, but I have just discovered Elvana - Elvis fronted Nirvana tribute act - and I don't know what to say.

But, did you go, as you were?

I was doing ok but drifted down to 4.1 after getting home, a Kit Kat seemed a good idea at 13g carbs, 10 of which sugars and I'm gym bound shortly, 10 minutes up to 10.1 with that annoying pointy up arrow so a .5u correction and I'll crack on.

Just when I have seen the post by Kev, I have been meaning to ask for ages but kept forgetting

The phrase that you see on the nutiritional information on food packaging

13g of carbs of which sugars 10

can someone explain, hopefully in simple terms what "of which sugars" actually means and should type 1 be paying attention to that.

I have always just used the 13 g of carb information

Thanks folks

I look at it like this, carbs is the reference to complex carbs, the slow digest ones I can balance my bolus to, of which sugars are the simple sugars, readily absorbable and taken in faster than my bolus can work with, so when I buy my food I'm looking for the lower carb scores, and of those I'm looking for the lowest of which sugars. I do find it better to find the lowest sugar ones with the least carbs, but then I don't eat small portions.

The example you give @ 13g, is that per 100g? To me the of which sugar bit should be less than 2g, but again that's to me :) and it's my Kit Kat I was using (reaing back quickly as I got sidetracked from when I started this post) to raise me a little and quickly, I'd not normally eat one!

Spike came down , gym was gymmed and I'm having a late 105g carb tea, 4 fishcakes, spud salad and steamed veg, 4.5u with the extra .5u for the fishcakes :)

Evening chaps, been a pretty good day, all in all. Advanced pump training took about two and a half minutes, as I’ve already been using extended boluses for protein and designed myself a new basal profile (on the second day of having the thing, out of necessity). They (the rep from Insulet and the hospital’s pump start person) actually said they’ve never seen anyone taken to it so quickly :D The rest of the session was them looking through all my Diasend data (I’d uploaded it before I went) and being super impressed with my relatively flat lines, so we ended up talking about food, Spike and the MiaoMiao :) All in all it was rather good fun! They loved my decorated pods... seeing the consultant next month, dying to know what my next HbA1c is going to be, blood being drawn for that in a fortnight.

Went shopping after for picture frames, and changed my pod. Trying this one on my calf. Back to my original basal programme today, the one I only had a day of before shark week kicked in and I had to hurriedly make a new one. So there’ll be a lot of watching and tweaking over the next few days while I get used to what my idiot body is doing this week...

Smoked mackerel and spinach leaves for dinner :)
