Afternoon all,

Bloods have been hovering in the low 6’s today- but that may soon change as I have just scoffed a bar of Dairy Milk (& nope didn’t feel guilty) ..enjoyed every single bite so the spike will be worth it

One of the days...
Don' know whether to lkke the no guolt or hug the one of those days. Take whichever you want.

@karen8967 and @becca59 I don't know if any of the info here is of any use? https://www.healthline.com/diabetesmine/sticky-truth-adhesive-changes-diabetes-devices#1 I didn't know Abbott had produced a guide; there's only one page but it might be useful. I don't suffer with rashes, just have problems trying to keep the snsor stuck to me. I use Tegaderm, but one won't last me two weeks, so I always end up having to trim off the edges of the Tegaderm and stick another one over the top - at least once and sometimes more during thelife of a sensor. And then of course the thing's unsightly - well, more unsightly I guess - and I do stick mine on my upper arm. I don't think I could sleep comfortably with it anywhere on my back. costs and benefits I guess; I wonder why they don't make Libres in other colours - some different flesh tones to make them less obvious or something fluorescent that'd be more interesting than white...
I decorate mine, there’s lots of stickers for Libre on eBay and a few little companies do them too. I get mine from “pep me up” in Germany, they’re lovely. Very quick too. And the stickers last the life of the sensor. I’ve made a purple carbon fibre one for my MiaoMiao too :)

i havent but i will do :)

Make sure you fill in the device section not the medicines (like daft old me!) it is the only way to bring any change to bear, as when reporting to Abbot direct all I got was a, “we pass on to so and so department the info,” and that was it! I didn’t trust that this would happen. Anyway I feel that they should take detailed reports.
If the MHRA are inundated we may see some action. I feel that the device is not fit for purpose. When people are spending their own money and then extra money to try and solve the issue it doesn’t seem right.
I have dried the tears and am now In rant mode!

Up and down day today....mostly up! Fiasp pen was only giving half(ish) of a dose. Just changed the pen and noticed that Novo Nordisk have changed the colours on the pens....at last. The Fiasp was soooo close in colour to the Tresiba it could have caused major probs. Luckily I have a Timesulin top on my Fiasp so luckily never had a close call

Too rainy for exterior painting so didn’t do any. That’s about it really. Sugars happily in the 4s and 5s, pod on my bicep is comfortable and not in the way...

No covering up your OH artist work on the side of the house then? :hilarious:

Oh man! Chinese curry has to be just one of those hidden jems, why have I not discover this before ? :woot:

BSL running mid 6's might still drop small amount of insulin in, think rice and Dim Sum will hit later :shifty:

Toddled up to Chester on the train today, then walked along the River Dee to Queensferry and back to get the train home aagain.

Before setting off on the long bit of the walk, I wandered halfway round the City Walls in a nostalgic mood (I lived in Chester for 6 years, 3 as a student, then for 3 years after) then suddenly felt slightly strange after several up and down stairs moments (Those Romans just didn't think about accessibility!) and had to sit down for ten minutes to persuade me back up from 3.8 to a more reasonable level to get to the coffee shop where I was meeting a friend. Then I had no qualms about having some cake before we got going on the main walk! I had no other such moments, even on the faster walk back into Chester, when I just refueled every hour to make sure I could keep going, did a small correction with my supper on the train, and am now absolutely spot on before bed time! Hooray!

My feet, they are now saying they want a gentler day tomorrow after walking 40 miles in the last two days...

Well the UTI’s got the better of me. I expected greater things from my immune system, giving it a real talking to, and probably left it a day too long; had to visit the local (to where I am at the moment) minor injuries unit to get a fix.
Two hours in the waiting room. Lots of things going on, from a glitter covered dad with his son’s damaged tendon to a big bloke whose phone was playing jingle bells. That’s how they/we party here.
I got to know the loo there very well while I was waiting, so it was even more of a relief to see a doc.
Anyone taken MacroBID, real name Nitrofurantoin? There’s an alarming list of possible side effects

Oh poor you! UTIs are horrible.

Nitrofurantoin was not the worst antibiotic ever. Nausea was the only major side effect. How are you testing for ketones though - ketostix are useless while you’re on it, as it turns your urine a very interesting colour!

Sending lots of hugs, hope you feel better soon.

@Fairygodmother OK silly question but you did tell them you were a diabetic?

Was looking it up and it is on the list of "tell your doctor if........"

As for the side effects, every medicine has a team of people behind the scenes and their job is to record ANY adverse event that has happened with the said medicine. For example look in Headache tablets and one of the side effects is "can cause headaches and upset stomach". When the event has been recorded then the leaflets inside are updated so if the medicine has been around for a long time then the list can sometimes be alarming long.

Unfortunately the more effective the treatment the more people have side effects, just the nature of the stuff.

I have never had to take MacroBID but all I would say if follow the instructions to the letter, complete the course and if you get any side effects consult a Doctor or go back to the clinic you got the stuff from.

Hope you get better soon :)

Thank you. And yes, my pee’s now an interesting colour (too much information?).
I’ll be very very cheerful if the infection clears up without having any of the side effects - 2 more days of part-time job stuff to do - it was probably trying to get it all done that led to my delaying the visit to the doc, I really should have gone there on Friday morning.
Not looking forward to the drive home, or inability to drive home, if any of the dizziness, nausea, severe anaemia and bruising, liver damage, pancreas damage etc on the info sheet happen.
I’ve not got any keto sticks with me and am working hard to keep bloods in order - I think maybe the onset of the infection led to the horrid highs on the slow drive here.

Thank you too @Knikki. Yes, I did tell them I was T1 but I don’t think they were very aware of T1 stuff - asked how it was I knew my eGFR. I don’t hold that against them though, after all, they were yet to see jingle bells and glitter-dad

Aw @Fairygodmother - that’s miserable. Hope the stuff clears it up soon xxx

@Knikki - no peni currently visible, he’s been threatened with a shiny gold one on his car bonnet if any more appear ;)

Steady night in the greens here, was woken when I hit seven, so took a small correction and was woken again when it hit 3.8, so I need to look at my correction factors for the small hours. Two dextrose and a half hour temporary suspend have me in the mide fives and chugging along smoothly on the Etch-A-Sketch :)

Thank you Mel, so do I!
Just had a shower with some great smelling stuff that was a freebie sample , very cheering, and I guess I’m a bit nicer to know too.
