I went through a phase of only injecting in my arms. I seem to be going for the same spots on my stomach- just as its convenient when I am at work.

I tend to use my thighs for my basal doses.

Need to make a more conscious effort to rotate.

Not used my back ever- don’t know why!

In 47 years I have never used my arms or my bum. Was always told to pinch while injecting so that put my arms out of the equation straight away and really don't fancy reaching around to do my bum cheeks lol. So 80k+ jabs divided by tops of legs (top/front) and around my belly button.

I was told to pinch, and I'm sure they was classed as 'Intramuscular' injections* with the 12mm needles, must have been muscle as I think subcutaneous is shallower, I use mainly legs, stomach sometimes and if I'm honest find these 4mm needles pain free and they don't bruise much either.

*I'm sure the insulin bottles said 'for intramuscular injection' but can't remember for sure...

A bit like finger pricks. One finger always gets the most hits. Stupidly I will prick a finge, think no, that one needs a rest and then prick another instead.

I've been trying to carefully jab a particular finger so it ends up looking like one of those, "Jesus on a piece of toast" scams which the Vatican pays a fortune for. I could end up retiring on this if my artistry works out well...

When first diagnosed I was told to pinch and only use my thighs. Was given a card with holes in to place on thighs. Holes had days of week on. Idea was to rotate sites. Was only on 2 injections a day and was using the old syringe type needles.
Nowadays with the smaller needles I inject thighs ( sides and front ), arms, stomach and occasionally calves for bolus.
Basal is always buttocks, ambidextrous so manage very well on both sides. No longer pinch, the needles are far to short nowadays.
Have to admit that when in a rush or injecting sub consciously it’s very easy to have a “go to spot “.

Feel free to comment :):):)

Yep, I was told to pitch after my practice session on an orange.
Though I had the injection sites "mapped" on a human version out in a butchers style cut of meat diagram... (With days of the week in the zones, from memory.) this was back in 1976..

I was told to avoid muscles, hence the need to pinch - if you didn't have enough fat for the needle when you pinched you 'd be injecting into muscle so don't use that site. Was also told that's why not to use arms as it's v easy to get into muscle there. That's changed with much much shorter needles.

Morning y'all :) 5.8 waking, bolussed and basalled and am at 8.8 before eating, a few rude words muttered and am ignoring the porridge waiting to cook, this is all new having moved the basal, a feet on the floor rise instead of a drop, all I've had's a coffee so far and I've been up since 6.45 with child so I feel like I'm starving now :p

Best working day of the week so have fun :)

Morning all,

I lost a bad day at midnight, off my 7 day libre data, so it looks a lot better today than yesterday, without me really doing much, as I don't look at the 14 days, or mess up too much today.

Said hello to the sunrise, while it's just before 8 am, before the clocks go back, there were some red crane lights suspended in the pink sky above the roof tops, it looked quite pretty.

Morning fellow pin cushion, remember with all those holes in you when you jump in the water you will sink faster than anyone else.

Its true o_O, a medical fact and that's why @kev-w swims so fast :hilarious:

Well I had a lovely flat night on the Etch A Sketch and woke up to a 2.9, nice so brekky and 4 jelly babies, there has to be an upside to his malarkey, and I'm still sat here at 3.8 and vvveeerrryyy sllllooowwwlllyyy going up.

Anyway logged in from home so will wait till the traffic dies down and my arsy BSL has gone up before going in.

@Knikki You've helped me understand why I'm slowing down in the pool, I'd been thinking my age but oh no no no :p more pin holes than 10 year back.

Brightened my morning that :)

Morning teabags!

Back in '97 I was told to pinch, but was injecting with 12mm needles. I have used my arm once, which was recently and out of curiosity as I'd seen people mention it here - have always used stomach for bolus and thighs for basal (as told that at DX), years ago Doc did say I had a bit of lipohypertrophy in the four main places I use to inject (I wasn't very good at rotating and ensuring a gap from the last injection), avoided those lumps for a bit and they did reduce quiet some. I've probably become a bit lax again so this discussion is a bit of a prompt to be more aware!

so Pizza last night, 8.9 before hand 2/3rds dose taken, 8.9 just short of 2hrs after, umm'd and arrr'd (who read that with a pirate voice?) about taking the rest then before taking the dog out, decided not to. After dog walk I 'forgot' (CBA) so at bed time was 13.something, so with 4u of the dose 'missing' and finger in the air went for 6u, by hook or by crook that seemed to work as 6.8 this morning.

At least 25 years ago I was told by a specialist that the most effective place to administer insulin was....
Drumroll please...........between the shoulder blades.......

In those days we used whacking great needles so how this was achieved is beyond me.

I've pointed out before that I still marvel at the 4mm ones I now use and I still recall being on 60 plus unit all in one go with whacking great needles!

Anyhoo I struggled again last night with lows and overtreated and ended up in the 12s this morning.
I've started making reindeer again so need to adjust but am struggling as I've just returned from my jollies and can't find a happy medium.

Have a freaky Friday

Tony

Good morning all you holey people :hilarious:

Morning pincushions, sieves and colanders, and a happy Friday to all.
I see that the Express, (The Express!), is challenging the Maybot’s words about the Libre - wow.
Recently my overnight bs have been reacting to the carb content of supper. They’re fine until the novoslow’s lost its power and then they drop - on Levemir too, would have expected it with Lantus. New adjustment system to be trialled.

Good morning and wishing you all a Happy Friday, a woke on 8.2. Work later on and talking of work, my supervisor told me yesterday that instead of leaving at the end of October she is leaving................. today ( her and her husband have a taxi business and she needs to concentrate on that) !! so it's just me now, Apparently the Area Manager is visiting today, that will be fun, not, the job and company are farcical, so, still looking for other employment.
Lovely and sunny here today and tomorrow will be the same :)

Good morning all. Was woken by my Low alarm last night...2.2....grrrr few jelly babies and a small chocolate bar (no cake in the house :( )....Woke to a 6.6 this morning
Glad to see your back to your normal self @Knikki

Googling I see the Express have found a WW2 veteran to use for the story. I think they've run with this story before, my google search engine shows a July one.

Delightfully embarrassing for May, though making a mess of things seems to trouble her barely at all, but it might embarrass some CCGs, hopefully.
