I’m pretty sure several of the families are the _current_ generation of JK participants... at least one of the kids I teach told me his mum was on it.

I did have to cover a biology lesson, and emphasise the importance of carbs :rolleyes:

I have many novopens - got given a box today to decant the insulin from as the pharmacy was out of vials!

Toothpaste & an old sock is is a good remedy for opaque/misty plastic modern car headlamps...
Yep, I've tried it & it works on what I can only assume is the result of pollution, UV & modern "quick shine" car cleaning products used by forcourt valleters degrading the clarity of these units?

And today I got a parcel from work. It appears I didn't leave my pen on a train, but in a meeting room - where it was found two weeks later. Which means all three of my disasters from the past couple of weeks (sensor applicator falling apart, lost pen, soaked reader) have now been resolved :-)
 
Good morning, all! Looks like I'm first up to get going on the weekend activities.

Storm Erik is making his presence felt out there, as well as demonstrating just how many draughts there are in my house, however, he won't put me off going for my walk before Scotland play Ireland, then Italy play Wales.

Morning all! Tragic when waking up at half past seven naturally feels like a lie in after all the 0515 starts... :bored: so I’m going back to bed with my kindle for a bit as I’m not getting up this early on principle. Had to visit the bathroom and clean up some cat sick so not impressed at all.

Supposed to be going to look at a hateful but economical small diesel car today to replace my beloved, but thirsty 1.8 Focus, which is due to catastrophically fail it’s MOT next month. I’m racking up some mileage these days, so could probably do with a car that’s cheaper to run. Ugh. My issue is that I like a bigger bodied car as they tend to have better seats and a bit more road presence. And the Focus handles brilliantly, especially on the mountain roads I use. I might feign illness. I don’t want to go because I don’t want a sensible “mum” car (and yes I know I’m being childish!) and apparently an MX5 doesn’t qualify :dead:

Diesel wasn't convincing me a few years ago when I was forced to get rid of my previous petrol. But after 3 months with a hire car trekking the country (and loathing the little 3 pot with a turbo strapped to it) I found the right one. I'm convinced if it'd had the smaller diesel engine in the range fitted I'd have got rid and run back to petrol despite the thirst.
 
Morning everyone, squealing windows here coz of the wind. Thanks for all the supportive words and hugs after my midweek rant. Went to a gym yesterday to check out whether it's worth joining. Got a pool, sports hall, gym and enough classes to give me a heart attack.... but if it helps BG and the fat of course, that's a bonus
BG still being a proper little madam, 7.4 this morning!!
 
Morning all, on a surprisingly sunny day down here.
db89, I get the nasty extra morning rise if I have to drive too, I reckon it’s a bit of adrenaline that tries to help me avoid the potholes, get there on time, watch what everyone else is doing etc etc.
Mel, we’ve had 2 cars that were great to drive, big and comfy, though not as economical as the current hybrid (I’m now minus metaphorical arm and leg). They were an old Italian made Alfa and an old style, very old style, Toyota Carina E. Very sad when one was handed over to daughter whose ropey second hand Renault caught fire and the other came to the end of its economical diesel life. Deisel’s losing its shine so you might get a second hand one cheaper than a petrol, if you really want one.
