Type 1'stars R Us

For sure, Mel, I'm not knocking low carb/keto per se, I'm knocking those who stridently insist it is the only way, to the point where they say, as they often do, that any other way is irresponsible.

I revisited my (mildly) misspent youth a few weeks back! The Cameo, a small independent cinema near me, ran a documentary about Sonic Youth and a film of them doing Daydream Nation live on Glasgow as a celebration of its 30th year.

The drummer Steve Shelley was there doing a question and answer session, totally down to earth bloke, no rock star airs and graces about him.

When asked what their motivation was, he said, "well, back in that era, don't want to kick a man when he's down, but we didn't want to sound like Phil Collins."
I’ve just booked the ticket for the fourth date of the same tour my favourite band are doing later in the year: I already had three, but they added an extra date near me, so what was I supposed to do? :D

Not that i am a huge fan of Phil Collins but back in the day he was good rock/prog drummer. he might be a bit of an **** as a person, i have read his autobiography but he did help shape Genesis after Gabriel left. Some say for the better some say for worse

Why I hate type 1. All week I have been running highs especially in the morning. I am new to pump so thought I would maybe make a few tweeks. Not do so yet but of course this morning, ate same thing at same time took same dose of insulin done the same things ( sat on my ****) and BG are very good. In fact just had a mild hypo, BG3.8 :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Sorry I missed the profanity. Sometimes it fits to help express the emotions. But then it is profanity.

Did you perhaps sleep right on top of an infusion set? That does it for me.

Thinking about blowing a wad of money and making one of my road bikes electronic shifting. It’s a wad of money. But I love it on the rebuild of my TT bike. And the system I chose for that bike has a backup for that almost certain and unexpected battery death. SRAM Red.

What bikes do you have?

Whoah, steady! Even as a non-low carber, dates are full-on - I sometimes use them as a hypo treatment!

I'm surprised that fresh figs don't get mentioned much. My local Sainsbury does them, they're only about 10g per 100g, mainly made out of water, but the colours and texture are totally lush, things which low carbers often lose sight of, the simple pleasures of life.
Yep - that’s why I avoid them. Like figs too so may try them when I feel like experimenting again.

Many. I have an Argon 18 E117 that was rebuilt with SRAM Red after I was touched inappropriately by a car. She is a wickedly fast, and beautifully blue, girl.

I have a Trek Emonda fat tire (25’s aren’t that fat anymore...) that’s setup with disc brakes. For what it is and how I use it I can see putting money into it. It was a new bike last year.

I have a climber/cruiser that’s another Emonda Pro that’s a rim brake bike. And the bike is just above UCI legal wgt. This is the one I’m thinking of changing.

These are the primary bikes that I use. I have others but it always comes down to what I have to do, and typically I pick one of the 3 above.

I have a Madone that’s set as a high speed cruiser for flat land that’s relatively un-used.

Sounds like an expensive hobby! I stupidly assumed you meant motorbikes when I clocked “TT” so my biker ears pricked up ;)

Apologies for profanity

I sometimes have 2 dates-10 carbs after a meal when I’m desperate for something sweet, absolutely yummy!
Oh, and love a fig too! Very good for bowels!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Short Version: This thread is not a clique where members get to insult, denigrate and belittle others.

Long Version: This thread was temporarily removed from view, while several posts were edited or deleted for breaking forum rules.

I would remind everyone that this thread is not a place for people to complain about other members, or misrepresent interactions with members/mods, or somewhere that the forum ethos and rules do not apply.

Anyone who believes that another poster has broken any of the forum rules should Report the post in question immediately, for the moderation team to deal with.

Anyone who disagrees with an opinion expressed in any post is free to respond on that thread, politely opening a constructive debate. Rudeness, disparagement, clique type 'us and them' comments will be subject to moderation. Retreating to a chat thread and then posting those things is not acceptable and will be dealt with according to the forum rules.

We have basic standards of civility that are applicable to every member and every post on the Diabetes.co.uk forum.
Posters are subject to sanctions as per those very same forum rules. There is a link in my signature to the ethos and rules so that people can remind themselves of the required standards of behaviour. The problem I have is that I would want more than 2 although if I’m lucky I may find them too sweet now. I used to like the fresh dates when they were available as well.

Morning all, I was too busy enjoying daughters yesterday to catch up here and it seems that I missed ructions. Thanks Mel for letting me know why the thread disappeared for a bit. I’m really really pleased it’s back up again as nothing beats communing with others who’ve got interesting and active lives as well as T1.

I think the thread had a hypo;););).

Good morning everyone, it's a sunny start to the day and it's looking good for next week too.

On a sad note, I went to bed on doubles figures, a bit of a stressful evening regarding 2 matter's, so took 2 units of correction Insulin and.................... it went up even more this morning :banghead::bigtears: so not feeling great at the moment, dry mouth, like the Sahara desert and feeling yukky too :( I will keeping on checking throughout the morning.

Can I just say, you guys make this thread, we ALL know how diabetes affects us, sometimes, regarding diabetes we try dam hard to get it right and still it won't play ball, so we are here to help and support each other, a hug and banter with some Looney tunes thrown in too.
So lets keep ploughing on, head's up and on wards and upwards.
Any problems, we can contact each other, in matter's that may be best addressed, via pm.
HAPPY SUNDAY to all pin cushions and the non pin cushioners on here too.
