I'm glad I work freelance and have choice. Busy week, hahaha, meds review today, diabetic clinic tomorrow, full day working Thurs. I'm hoping for dry weather so I can dig up more nettles.
Shocked this morning, madam at 3.7 so had to eat toast!!

Good Monday everyone, I bet you are all raring to get Monday out of the way. Diabetes fairy waved her magic wand and gave me a 3.1 this morning Work today ( Monday's are usually so quiet) promoting Prepco Couscous and rice.

I recall @tim2000s was involved in setting up the London ones, not sure if he's speaking at this one, but there's certainly a stellar line up - Partha Kar, NHS national lead on T1 and has really pushed the libre cause; Debbie Wake, who set up the online My Diabetes My Way where you can check all your historical records, available everywhere in Scotland and being piloted in some parts of England (she's a consultant at my hospital and didn't bat an eyelid at my 28 a1c); Fraser Gibb, who has reported on clinical outcomes from the Lothian area where any any T1 who wants libre gets it - a1cs safely dropping like a stone; and, all the way from America, Dana Lewis, one of the pioneers of artificial pancreas in a tic-tac box.

I'm sounding like a total fan-boy!

I'm a certified book keeper and I love it. Always have, which would have made my much younger self flinch in horror but I've been happily tending other peoples' books for over 25 years now.

@smc4761 it will take some getting used to!. I am a fiddler so I was messing with the settings from day 1. Sometimes I got it wrong but mostly (luckily got it correct lol. Defo a temp. reduction in basal is needed before your excercise

The excuses already started to seep out re. Hamilton

We have discovered damage to Lewis' floor in the area just in front of the left-rear tyre. There is a chunk of the floor missing, but we are not 100 per cent sure why yet.

I'll refer to Bottas' post race team radio transmission (which I can't post here) in response to that.

Ferrari, on the other hand, seem to have a flaw in their engine that is present amongst most (if not all) the Ferrari powered cars and are performing equal spin doctoring/damage control.

My movie entertainment was the next in the James Bond series: License to Kill. It was the usual thrills of guns, drugs, jumping out of aeroplanes, fighting sharks and lots of pyrotechnics. Had to laugh at the health warning in the end credits. Nothing about guns or drugs or sky diving or sharks or fire ... well kind of fire - it was "smoking can kill"!

That's the one with the botched sniping assassination where Dalton blows the window out with an explosive pack of cigarettes isn't it? Could have been the tide coming back in on cigarette advertising in 1989 but I'd prefer to think it was used ironically.

Thanks @porl69 I was thinking of changing slightly my overnight Basal as well, as just about every morning I have been fairly high. BUT of course bedtime BG was 6.1, fairly flat overnight waking to a BG 5.2 this morning. It annoys the life out of me that there is no pattern to this

When I cam from the pump clinic I had a basal pattern with 6 different times on it....I now have 10 times on it. Got to sort a pattern for the weekend now (and remember to change it over lol)

Hi @porl69 , still got my Libre which is how I know my BG are overnight. I only have 2 Basal settings at moment and know that I will need to change to suit my needs. The problem is I am not getting any real patterns to make the judgement call on this, maybe except my morning rise. I spike quite badly after breakfast most morning before it drops back by lunchtime. From lunchtime to bedtime my BG are usually pretty decent so will leave as is.

Think tomorrow I will have a tweek with Basal, upping it from 7am to about 10.00.

Hooray! Today was an unexpected lot of wins.

• Lovely T2 student has overcome his fears of my injections after I let him see exactly what happens, how I get ready for it, then letting him watch the injection. Plus, it was worth letting him "inject" a couple of units into a pen cap so he could even see what I'm injecting into me. Also worth the mid-afternoon samosa and the chaos it's caused with current blood sugars. Oops... I'll own up to that tomorrow.
• Appraisal has been postponed. Just need line manager to acknowledge neither of us will make the proposed date as it's a Bank Holiday.
• Reports I thought were due on Wednesday are not, in fact, due to the end of term.
• Rugby supporting students and I all had a most amicable conversation about Saturday's extraordinary match.

Grrr - GP surgery frustration.
I have recently become aware my surgery has a pharmacist. She does not issue drugs like the pharmacist in the chemist a few doors down from the surgery. In my experience, she seems to be responsible for the repeat prescriptions and the associated database. So, when the diabetes clinic at the hospital request a change to my prescriptions she, eventually, makes the changes and, when she notices I have not requested something for 12 months she removes my ability to do so.
The became a problem today when I went to check on line whether the Humalog prescription (which the diabetes clinic requested on 28th February) was available to collect. Not only was this not on the system but neither were any insulin pen supplies.
I had to phone the surgery and, by the sound of the person I spoke to, I was not the first person to have had problems with their repeat prescription.
It seems the surgery pharmacist has absolutely no idea about insulin requirements or the importance of making changes when teh hospital clinic requests it.
This is definitely a problem for me because I ran out of my backup NovoRapid supplies, have no Humalog so have to revery back to Fiasp which I know is unstable.

Rant over (for now)

We had a similar problem with our GPs pharmacist (didn’t know we had one until then) who decided to change the brand of one of my husbands heart pills to a generic one which was presumably cheaper. Luckily enough we knew that he had to have the same brand so, after some minor persuasion, she changed them back however what happened to the patients that she changed who didn’t know that their brand should not be changed?
