Morning all, just been for a loooong walk in my local new wood (only planted in 2013 so it only has baby trees and still feels quite open). Glorious day, bloods too high on waking but brought down nicely thanks by a decent walk.

@SueJB will scones do? Will they do? Can't think of anything better, I'll let you have my address (before @porl69 and @Knikki beat me to it)

5.3 last night 4.3 this morning , as Sue said very quite misty here this morning - some driving with fog lights on and some no lights at all! :wacky:

My back has been playing up, hopefully it's just a back lash from my skiing exertions and with a bit of rest it'll calm down. Does anyone know if they still do old style traction on the NHS?

@SueJB scones and jam sound lovely and who wouldn't appreciate something so British? Apart from someone on low carb although they'd appreciate the effort.

I am being lazy. I haven't made it out of bed yet unless you count my wander to the kitchen to pick up breakfast in bed.
I sent my boss an email at 12:30 last night to say I would not be working this morning after a delayed flight. Who could begrudge a few extra hours in bed after a 18 hour day? Thankfully, not my boss who is usually reasonable and let's me manage my own time.
Oh well, I think the shower is calling then me and the latest jar of jam can leave my parents' house in the peace it was expecting when they went on holiday.
Don't work too hard whilst I'm not. Unless you're baking scones.
Thanks @helensaramay and @hh1 scones it is then although I don't know how I'm going to resist eating them

@SueJB - Scones, cream and jam - Most definitely! I'm in the queue not far behind @porl69 , @Knikki , and @hh1 !! And anyone else who's put themselves in the queue.

Just off for a walk to test out my theory that it's the slightly too short, slightly inflexible laces in my current newest walking boots which are causing the last bits of ouchiness to my Achilles tendon (which is much, much improved of late) So, I've replaced them with workboot ones which are thinner, more flexible, last longer and are slightly longer. Why it's taken me quite this long to think of that I don't know - I've had at least 9 pairs of these boots, which suit me very nicely for the kind of walking I do, and have always whinged about the laces being too short whilst breaking them in.

Bloods behaving remarkably well for holiday time out of routineness. I shall discount the 20.4 pre-dinner last night as it had been 4.7 before I got on the bus 30 minutes prior, and 5.2 on an immediate retest after I'd said lots of words to the 20.4 that my students don't think I ever utter... (I do, just not in their hearing!)

Treat it as a scientific experiment? Loads of cream to slow down the scone's carbs? (That worked for me last time I had a cream tea when resistance was definitely futile.) I'll go for my walk now...

I make a low carb scone type thing and strawberry jam using chia seeds to thicken it - I only do it if I can find really thick goat cream to slather on top.

Anyway, morning all. Later wake up times mean I’m going hypo at about 7am, because normally I’m up and on the road by then, so the foot on the floor has kicked in. Going to have to set up a new basal programme for non work days!

A jam session with ? radio music instead and the sound of jam being spread on toast ??

Well yesterday was dreadful

I stumbled and fell over walking Wispa and I twisted my ankle but managed to limp around for the rest of the day

Took Wispa to puppy class at 6.30 and she was star puppy

Got home around 8 and started to cook some dinner

Then I fell again and this time really really hurt my ankle

Then the hypo feeling started I got all hot and shaky and was 3.1 so was going to treat but before I could treat I vomited

I crawled around the floor like a dog I couldn’t weight bear

Got a taxi to A&E and had all my observations taken blood sugars were 2.7 because I forgot to treat and was vomiting

I was given glucogel and checked regularly until stable

I had an X Ray which revealed no broken bones thankfully just a sprained ankle

My mobility is poor and the frequency of my stumbles and falls is concerning me

Anyways this morning I’m pain free and resting my foot stretched out on the sofa

Dear friends I hope you have a good day ahead of you
Take care

Is the poor mobility a recent thing, @Cumberland? That needs to be fully assessed, too.
Hope that is just temporary but it is not something to be ignored.

@porl69 @db89 @Pipp

I have Neuropathy in both feet and it fluctuates from irritation to agony
I’m prescribed Gabapentin and Amitriptylene and also take Cocodomol

GP says condition can be controlled but for me it’s unlikely it will ever get better

I don’t have feeling in my feet and the stumbling and falling has been going on for 2 years only yesterday I fell twice and hurt my ankle

Isn’t our diabetic lives such a joy lol

We all have horror stories

Any way I’m hobbling around ok in between lots of tootsies up on the sofa

Thank you for your kind words

I am not sure if it is appropriate for your pain @Cumberland, and just in case any mods are reading I am not advising, just going on my own experience of mobility problems from a spinal injury, and a painful dislocated thumb joint from arthritis, but as I am allergic to lots of meds I have been advised to use Capsaicin cream. It helps relieve the arthritic pain but it is also recommended for neuropathy.

HOOGE man hugs @Cumberland

Morning all :)

I am absolutely cream crackered! Went to the neighbouring town and bought Asda. (Or that's what it felt like). Then to the Grape Tree and bought nuts, quinoa, all sorts of vegan treats, and some spices. And some more seitan.

I have to make some tofu but after that I might not move again today!

Hugs to Cumberland - lots! Take care of yourself. Look after yourself as well as Wispa - you both matter!
