Type 1'stars R Us

Well today was a reality check. After a couple good days of control/time in range, I thought I'd finally gotten to grips with my insulin doses. Cut to today, 3 hypos and ending the night with a lovely hyper. This diabetes malarky sure knows how to put you well and truly back in your place. Here's to tomorrow being a new day! Hope you've all had a better time of it today!

I'm joining you!
I already cut back my basal and still have to watch real close to prevent going low.
In my case it's my period, which sometimes does this and sometimes doesn't, but this time the effect is more than usual.

Just what I need when I'm about to go sailing for 5 days. :banghead:
This means more activity so a reduced insulin need, but reducing Tresiba won't make much of a difference this quick. (The basal I've reduced is the Levemir but that one's down to zero now, I only use it to top up my Tresiba if needed.)

The sailing will be work as well, not leisure.
The two of us, skipper and I, will be responsible for the sailing with about 18 adults with learning disabilities and likely two people without disabilities. The weather forecast is awful too. Strong winds, thunder, hail, gusts of up to 38 knots windspeed possible.
So there's absolutely no room for hypos during sailing.
 
Must be the day for it. I was low most of yesterday evening too then up all night trying to get the delayed hyper back in target without over treating. “Perfect” now that I’m off to the Endo later today.

T1D sure throws a curveball sometimes.

Good luck with your endo visit!

And by all means make a screenshot of @SherwoodT1 and my own post as proof that it's global (between us we cover 3 countries and both hemispheres) hypo day today, nothing to do with the way you deal with your diabetes!

Oh absolutely. I thought my diabetes had been mocking me the past few days, honestly.

The day immediately after me asking one of the endo consultants at my hospital team about pumps, and him saying he would refer me to the pump clinic, suddenly I was getting the best time in range ever. Beforehand? Dawn phenomenon, and struggling with stubborn highs. I thought it typical that suddenly my control would dramatically improve in the lead up to discussing eligibility for pump therapy. Alas, no. It just saved up everything for today!

For me, it was gentle walking that caused sudden crashes in blood glucose, and surprise hypos at a blood glucose of 4.5. None of which have been picked up in my libre data after the fact (and alarms)!

I hope it's smooth sailing for you this coming week, if you pardon the pun!

Thank you both for the support!

Visit to Endo went pretty well actually all tests came back good. Even my naughty Cholesterol was in check.

Though I did get the usual spiel that I should aim for a higher HbA1c of 6.5 and my control is alittle too tight with a HbA1c of 6.1! Lol.

Sounds like you're smashing it to me! Well done in the test results!
 
I have been wanting a Dobie again. I have always rescued them in the past, but they are rare where I am at. We have not seen one that has needed a home. Two came up Sunday on a neighboring island because someone was moving and gave them to someone else to rehome and she already has 4 large dogs. She had several people asking about getting one but she preferred them to go to the same house. So I immediately spoke up that I would love both.

So they were shipped to us tonight, arriving at midnight. Our two we already had got along great with them, but first we tried to sleep in different rooms since it was the first night and very late so to be safe, but our dog Sidney was not happy and was up and down up and down. The prewarned sensitive Dobie was whining half the night. So we caved and put them all together. And of course River who looks to be half their size then figures they were brought here to play with her. So we had to get her to settle down too. Then Sydney threw up a couple of times because of being stressed, common for her when she is. When I attempted to go to sleep again, the Dobie kept whining and nudging me to be petted. We let her out a couple of times but that wasn't it. Now she is finally settling down at 6 am and I was to get up at 7 am for an appliance repair.

Who needs sleep anyways? But certainly not as easy to skip as it was when I was younger. I have a feeling me and hubby will be snapping at each other all day. He usually sleeps well every night and doesn't do well without. I am more used to lack of adequate sleep, but not to no sleep at all.

But I have my Dobie(s) and it was looking pretty poor to being able to get one here. They definitely are two pals, they don't like to be out of sight of each other at all.

Finally decided today (after my colleagues convinced me since I burst into tears) to get seen by a doctor for my pain. It only started yesterday but it kept me up all night and paracetamol was not touching it. Turns out I have gallstones :hilarious: I at least feel better in the fact I wasn’t being crazy about saying the pain was so bad but would not wish it upon anyone!! Pain is currently being managed and I’m booked in for a scan with the GP to see what to do, whether to just leave it or bye bye gallbladder

We have two cats that are lovely and I think my fungal toe nail infection is getting better !
 
Feel like I’m a car getting a full MOT with my doctor recently :hilarious: With my current possible gallstone issue, awaiting scan appointment to confirm that but they’ve also found I’m severely deficient in B12 and have to have 3 injections each week for the next 2 weeks and then every 3 months after that. They asked if I was tired and I did have to slightly laugh because I’m always exhausted. They’re testing for pernicious anaemia as they don’t know if it’s that or diet related but have to wait until I’ve started the B12 injections to get that test. I’m glad they’re being thorough but I really feel like a test subject these past 2 weeks!!
 
After a couple weeks of feeling on top of my diabetes, dialling in my doses, and generally feeling less burdened by the constant that is type 1, the past few days? Oh boy.

The wheels have fallen off the 'time in range' car, and it's now upside down in a ditch ... and on fire.

I'd managed to get into an 80%+ TiR. In the last couple days, it's been a complete reverse. Yesterday was a lovely 36% in range. I've done nothing different. My insulin isn't off. I'm not ill. I don't get it. Excuse the shouting into the ether. Venting over.

Is this a typical thing for exiting the honeymoon period? I've had a slow deterioration of insulin production up until now. Three days ago, it was like a switch was flicked. All this is just in time for my hospital's version of Dafne I'll be attending this week!
 
It can be the honeymoon period and your pancreas decided to quit for a few days and it might start up again at any time. The beta cells are being killed off, at some point you don't produce as much and it keeps dwindling, but your pancreas might make valiant efforts to try again and be able to sputter out some.


But it can be you also decided to wear the wrong color socks. :rolleyes:

“Tree of life?”

I’ve been investigating pre biblical creation myths.. some sort of tree seems to spout after an “earth diver” to “hold up the sky,” regardless of region the story came from..?

Currently have 3 broken ribs after a mishap rescuing a friend..

A lot of time on my hands. Nice ink though…

So sorry about your broken ribs, I’ve heard they are not fun, hope they heal up quickly for you.

I don’t know if I’d call it a tree of life, unless that is what a Sakura tree is :hilarious: But I always have tattoos with meaning and the meaning behind a Sakura tree at least is that because they only stay alive for a short period you should make the most of life. The time on the clock is my time of birth, kind of fitting for the meaning!
 
I hope you get better soon. @Jaylee. I know I dislocated the joint material between the ribs and it hurt to breath for weeks after.
