Hi I am type 2 diabetes with Metformin being used for control, my glucose readings are high in the morning but around 5 or 6 later in the day.
When I eat normal meals my readings are lower the next morning. If I stick to strict food control the readings are high the next morning. Has anyone else experienced this?
 
Thing is William a "normal" meal for you may be weird to someone else ! ultimately, the food that gives you the tightest BG control is the one to stick with !

Someone more knowledgable will come along soon to explain it better but I believe what you are experiencing is your liver releasing glucose into your bloodstream when it detects that you are low as dawn approaches to set you up for the rigors of the day. When you have a normal dinner your morning glucose levels are higher and your liver sees no need to dump additional glucose so paradoxically you end up with lower readings when you test.

You have a store of fatty acids which you can think of as going either way, ie be converted to glucose for fuel or laid down as fat for storage. If you don't eat any foods which are a source of glucose, your body will obtain the glucose from your existing fatty acids, to keep you going. Typically it does this when your BG levels fall to around 4.0 and it is part of the body's normal regulatory process, the limits it likes to operate in, body temperature, hydration levels and so on.

If you eat a normal meal, with carbs, you are topping your BG levels up yourself but, if you don't eat a carbohydrate rich food, your body takes it from your existing stores. People who diet can often get raised BG levels to begin with as their body is forced to look to its own stores for energy.
 
Hi all .. I have just recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes .. I'm on a medication called Glucophage 850 and Sandoz Glibenclamide 5 .. Has anyone ever heard of it and is it the best meds for diabetes ?
