i found out yesterday that i had a fasting blood test feb 2012 and my bg was high but the doctors surgury did not notify me i dont understand why even the nurse i saw yesterday could not understand why they did not get me back in has anybody else had this sort of problem and should i put a complaint in will it make any difference i dont know if that was type 2 i had back then or not

How did you find out yesterday ? Did they eventually tell you or was it another way ?
Anyway, they should have informed you straight away really. If only to take another test and get some bloods done. Hopefully you will get some treatment now though. As far as complaining, that's your choice. However, bear in mind you may need to have a long, good relationship in the future with these people. Best bet would be to ask them why you were not informed earlier. They may or may not be able to answer. Good luck !

I don't think I'd want a long and close relationship with that particular medical practice. A year is a long time for them to realise you should have been advised of your diagnosis and treated but at least they've come clean and admitted you should have been informed earlier.

Hi. It may be worth you asking to see the Practice Manager and ensuring she knows it happened to reduce the chance of it happening again. If I have a blood test now I always check the results at reception; I don't trust our surgery to let you know if there's a problem. At least an HBa1c of 5.7 is quite good so no damage will have been done over the last year.

thanks guys the nurse i saw told me that the test in feb 2012 was 9.7 which i understand is not very high but high enough that i should of had a follow up so i think i will speak to the practice manager and see what they say, they should of said something because i already had angina
