Type 2 Life

Hello @liam1955 I've just been watching a brilliant film on bbc2 Philomena. It made me cry. My bs was 7.9 after 2 hours but my strange eating today hasn't done me any favours as I have just had more slices of the wheat free bread toasted. I have lost weight with low crb and I do think it is good. I lose even more when I am swimming every day which is what I was doing. The choice tomorrow will be gardening or swimming.

@mo53 - Judy Dench is in that film I believe? She is a brilliant actress - did you know she is a York Lass! Yeah, I get into weepy films too. Your b.s. was still within range though. But, it obviously did not fill you Mo!! I drink more to keep my stomach full, but I don snack in between meals. I think swimming is the better of the two than gardening - you'll burn more calories and do your cardiovascular system good, as well as tone up muscles. Do you keep a food diary? Off forum for about 15 mins to wash up and then back to play games.

Well, still no luck on the celeriac front but on the plus side while I was in Asda I found a smartphone at a bargain price :) It was a whole tenner cheaper than in Argos and it has front and back cameras so I can take selfies!

I think I will continue #thegreatceleriachunt next week when I've recovered from all this walking!
Our Lidl had it through the week. Good hunting. :)

@liam1955 I keep a food diary on myfitnesspal so I can track carbs and calories. You are right about not being full. I don't usually snack but my meals were silly today. Too many bits without substance! You are right about the swimming but I'll decide in the morning. I like drinking sparkling water . I wondered about getting a soda stream. I don't drink any hot drinks in the evening.

Morning 0700 malaysia time FBG 4.9. I suspect the droplet of blood I take has too low sugar level
4.9 is an excellent fbg reading . Recommended fasting readings for type 2 diabetics in UK are 4-7 or for non-diabetic 3.9 - 5.5
Sorry for the delay in answering, we were all asleep when you posted. It's 7.20am here, afternoon for you in Malaysia?

Results of my blood sugars after eating a Chocolate Crunchie Bar last night.

Before bed at 1.15am = 9.5.
Fasting today at 9am = 6.3.
Not bad really:)

Thanks Ickihun, we have a couple of Lidls here in Coventry - one is a half hour walk away and the other one is on the outskirts but has a Tesco superstore nearby. I'll try the nearer one next week

@mo53 - Hiya:). What you doing today? Did you 'snack' anymore last night?
I am really pleased with the results from the Crunchie "experiment!! Unless we try things and see what effect (if any?) It has on our blood sugars, we will never learn
about different and new things to eat!:)

@Kyi - Hello:) How long ago were you diagnosed? And how long on the Metformin?
I can answer in 2 ways lol. I was diagnosed with diabetes 8 years ago but due to another illness did nothing until September this year. I have started taking metforminx2 5oomg last September 8.1 HbA1C Changed to SR metformin x1 1000mg in Dec because I kept falling asleep with the metformin HbA1c 9.4 Mid February now on 2000mg Metformin SR and 1x 100mg Sitagliptin. Been recording what I eat since last May. Asked for BG testing with DR and was told I didnt need it. Bought my own been testing for 3 days.

@Kyi - That is brilliant you invested in a meter, that is the most important and vital piece of equipment for a Diabetic. A lot of people on this forum use the LCHF - if you go to the top of the page and click on Forums, scroll down to FOOD and NUTRITION there you will see various diets. Hope there is something of interest for you? Diet and Exercise will have more effect on blood sugars, and drink plenty of sugar free liquids. Avoid "white Carbohydrates" = white rice, bread, pastry, biscuits, pasta, flour and potatoes. Keep us updated on the forum how you are doing? And if you have any questions? Just ask - there will always be someone to answer. We all help and support one another as much as we can.:)
