Type 2 Life

Just got my Hb results back and Im still on 34 so Im happy
Hi @4ratbags, may I ask you what your average day to day BG readings are? 34 is a fabulous HbA1c and I know that you manage, like myself, by diet and exercise only but I also notice that your fbg is usually over 6. My readings are normally 4s and 5s throughout now but my last HbA1c was 40. I think my next one might be lower so I'm asking about your PPs etc so I can work out what I might expect. Sorry this was a bit convoluted, hope you can follow my reasoning A

Thankyou @liam1955. I had very good readings throughout most of yesyerday and they are low again today. Tomorrow will be more of a challenge as i am going on a breadmaking course - it was a present from my husband before I was diagnosed. No doubt we'll be encouraged to eat what we make.

I'm sorry things arent going well for you, but hopfully it's only a blip.

And @Alzebra, you deserve a medal for teaching teenagers. I have to live with two of them, Id never cope with a classroom full of them!.

@liam1955 i had fatty liver diagnosed after blood test and an ultrsound scan. Then i started lchf it resolved itself. My liver result showed 280 but went to 20 after 3 months. i was consuming a huge amount of fruit, especially bananas. I eat none now. Last liver test was good too.
Do you stay away from pastries and fruit?
Fatty liver can improve through diet so please dont worry too much. My gp was dum struck in my improvement.
Keep us updated. Do you have painful soft tissue on your right rib?

@ickihun - I had a Fibroscan done in early February and was told I had Fibrosis, and been waiting for appointment to see Liver Specialist - that's now arrived this morning and see him in June. I think it is drug related in that I have injections for Arthritis of the spine and my LFT has been on the increase for well over a year now. I have nothing = no pain or no ache where you asked. I am at the Hospital this Thursday to see the consultant who prescribed the injections for the Arthritis. So, hopefully she will stop the drug. Thanks Vicky.

Evening. FBG 6.2 so good. Eating a light dinner. I have an appointment on 15th March for endoscopy for my stomach. Thinking of hunting out some old favourite DVDs tonight. Still sleepy but feeling better than last week. I was put on a new anti-ulcer drug Esomeprazole 40mg last week and holding down food better though I still get pain an hour after eating.

@13lizanne my FBG readings are always my highest readings of the day and I find they will climb slightly up until about 10am and then they start to drop slowly from there on in. By the time I have my lunch they are usually in the 4's, sometimes the 3's and I find they stay in the 4's and 5's until bedtime. I used to sress about my Hb tests and what the numbers would be but Im now permanently settled into the LCHF way of eating so with this last test I found I wasnt stressed at all which was great. 40 is still in the non diabetic range so that is great, hopefully it will go down further in your next test, I know I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw 34 on my paper last year, people driving by most probably thought I was a weirdo. When is your next test due and how often do you test throughout the day as I found the average on my meter was a good guide to what my next Hb test result was going to be.

I test between 4 and 7 times depending on what I'm eating and whether or not the weather allows me to get full amount of daily exercise, usually 4 times though. I am expecting my next HbA1c is April and I'm not stressed at all, like yourself I know that because I follow lchf diet 95% of the time and my blood levels are pretty consistent it will be fine. This last week I've had 5 readings in 3s, but mostly 4s and low 5s - the whole thing is fascinating to me. Do you have to pay for your tests?

I get 1 free test a year but I pay for the other 3 @ $15 a time but I thinknit is well worth it for the peace of mind and I also check on my iron, sodium and a few other things at the same time. I just have to try and work this lightheadedness out now and I will be set.

I buy extra strips from my local pharmacy as my GP only allows 1 pot a month. Like yourself I believe investing in our health is paramount. Hope you get the lightheadedness sorted too, I used to have same problem but mine was due to my no longer needing BP medication after switching to lchf and exercise. Good luck! Got to keep fit for your kids and that little cutie in your avatar x @4ratbags x

Morning folks, happy mothers day to all our UK mums. Had a minor blip this morning, I had a restless night and woke up to 7.5 this morning! I'm not worried though, my average for this week is still 6.6 and I'm happy with that!

Well I tried the alcohol theory of lowering my bgs. Ok only had one glass of good wine but I think my liver has gone into overdrive.
5.30am 6.8 bg (never sleep long if I've had alcohol)
8.00am after 10 hour fast 5.8 fbg.
Unless it's a delayed reaction. That's my body all over. Ha ha

Best keep an eye since on insulin.
Also one of blood pressure tablets doesn't like alcohol.
Won't be bothering next time. Too high maintenance.
I'm happy with 5.8 fbg.

You are doing great without the alcohol Vicky, are you having a nice Mothers' Day?

Hi all,

Hope it's a good day for everyone, hugs and best wishes for those who need/want them (they're free ).
Daughter and grandsons came for dinner, so it's been quite noisy here. They've gone back home now (they only live across the street from us), hubby has done the dishes, pots and pans . So I'm having some 'me' time while he watches the footie, yuk.

Not been testing much because I'm short on strips and waiting for the new ones to arrive. Today it was 6.6 before dinner, 7.6 at 1&3/4 hrs later. Not too bad considering it was roast chicken, 2 roasties, stuffing ball, cabbage, sprouts, runner beans, couple of carrot slices and home-made gravy. That sounds a lot but it was small amounts. I resisted the Yorkshires because they were frozen ones.

I've just added all my test results and divided by number of tests and it averages 7.26.

Now I don't know whether this is good, bad or middling, but in the early tests there were quite a few in the 10's and 12's. The highest I get now is low 8's, usually in the morning.

Ramble over for now, going to catch up on the forum games .

I have had 3 days of relatively low readings, which is good. However, I ended up being given pizza for lunch ( was on a course, no choice over lunch) and although it was totally delicious, my blood sugar reading after 2 hours was a shocking 15.3.

I've never had a reading over 11 before, I knew that it would be high but I was surprised that two pieces of pizza would push it that high. I guess that confirms that the lchf diet is working for me.

You are doing great without the alcohol Vicky, are you having a nice Mothers' Day?
I am @13lizanne . We all went out yesterday to celebrate 3 birthdays and 2 mothers day's. We went to a restaurant where the kids can play too.
We topped it off with star wars and drinks. Boys outweighed the girls.
Are you having a lovely day?

Yes I am thanks, yesterday we had our youngest son, his dad collects him from his supported living flat and his keyworker had "helped" him buy flowers and a card for Mothers Day. He comes for the afternoons and dinner on Saturdays, today I had a special phone call from our middle son who lives some miles away and a visit from our oldest son bearing flowers and a beautiful card. We're so blessed with our three beautiful "boys" How many children do you have?

Happy Mother's Day to everyone, especially those missing lost loved ones today. I've got 2 girls aged 12 and 14, they're lovely kids and so supportive with my LCHF and weight loss xx

We have 2 boys together. Oldest was born when I was 36yr old. The other when I was 42yrs old. My partner has no other children nor me.
I couldnt conceive until I went on metformin. I went on the trials in London for metformin for polycystic ovaries syndrome. Professor at St. Thomas' s Hospital took me off metformin for ivf (which failed). Only once diagnosed with diabetes did i take it again.
I really miss its benefits.

We've got two boys, ony 22 months between them which means they were toddlers at the same time, and now they are terrible teenagers at the same time.
