Type 2 Life

Thanks for responding @hankjam. I weigh myself every Friday morning and go by that weight as I know it fluctuates during the week. My DSN tells me I have lost 10 kilos since diagnosis in January, I have no idea what that means in old money but I think about 1 stone 7lbs by my reckoning? My BMI was 25.1 when I saw her last week.

I think the lchf way of eating is great, but I might need to hold back on the hf bit of it!

Good work:
1 kg as a bag of sugar and that's 10 less you are carry around, it is easier to do.... 1.5 stones!!!
25.1 is all good... depending to some extent on your height!
I was the same with HF bit but in the last two weeks I've been eating fat for Scotland and it seems okay..
Lipids/bloods in June should be interesting.

6.3 this morning making it day 6 with readings under 7.0 in the morning.

Weekly averages for the last week are

Overall Average of all tests 5.7
Before Meals 5.3
2 hours after meals 5.4

Happy with that

5.1 am for the last three mornings, sub-5 are no more and no idea why they were there. Not so many walks last week as the week before?
Out to local pub for a leaving do and food... I eat the burger and left the bun and chips.. 6.2 when I got home less than 2 hours later, so it could not have been too bad.... but you never know.

Nice before and after readings, @Lindy1706
What is your FBG trending looking like? You mention they are sub-7's, were they higher than this previously?

Had just slices of Cheese for 11.30pm supper, went to bed at 1.30am and blood sugar was 7.9. This morning's fasting was 8.2:( - must have had my Liver at work dumping on me? I am baffled ?:banghead: Increased Insulin by 2 units this morning to 44 units.

Those are really good readings, well done! I wish I could achieve the same. I'm working on it!

@hankjam, I have been testing for a month now, first Fasting reading was 10.7 then 9.3, 9.3, 8.5, 8.0, 8.3, 7.1, 6.9, 7.4, 6.5, 7.1, 7.8, 6.7, 7.2, 7.3, 7.9, 6.3, 7.2, 6.8, 7.4, 7.2

Then last week 7.0, 7.0, 6.7, 6.5, 6.8, 5.9, 6.8, 6.3.

So yep trending down......slowly!

@Lindy1706 yikes that's good, +10 to sub 7.
It's the trend to look for and not to get too hung up on an individual reading, which may be off for a number of reasons.... not that you've showed any hang ups I hasten to add.
:)

Thanks @hankjam I think the talk from the practice nurse telling me that I would end up injecting insulin and this would only get worse as it was a progressive disease give me a "****** that" attitude and I am going all out to ensure my next HbA1c in Mid June is vastly improved......My last test was on the 3rd March and showed an HBA1C of 118 and an Fasting Blood glucose of 17.8 Yikes! Could hardly be worse really could it!

I had been doing a LCHF equivalent (The Harcombe Diet Phase 1) as I wanted to give up processed carbs for lent, I just have to love the irony here:). So on diagnosis I stopped over to her Phase II which is effectively a LCHF diet, but went very low carb and kept an eye on protein. I am feeling great with energy to spare and have actually put the gym membership to use over the last two weeks and am actually enjoying excercise.

I try not to get hung up on the individual numbers, but am aware that any big ones will go into the pot for the next HbA1c test....knowing my luck my BS is probably having a party in between all my testing times :)

But I feel so much better who would have guessed that real food is in fact medicine....shocker!

@Lindy1706 the good news is that although your HbA1c covers 8-12 weeks it is actually the 4 wks preceding the test that have the most effect on your results. So, with your BG trendind downwards you are going to have a fab-u-lously low result. I am so with you on the response to your HCP for me it was a female GP laughing when I asked how the abscess on my lady parts had formed. She replied "high blood sugar" and told me that as I had been a diabetic for a long time 9 1/2 yrs I had to expect that. I found this forum and lchf the following day. I have exactly the same attitude as yourself and am now meds free with an HbA1c in the non-diabetic range.

Most diabetics go through the concentrating on individual meter readings for a while. I only concentrate on very low or very high readings now and just use my HbA1c as my golden rule. :)

Afternoon. Site was down all morning. FBG 6.1 and had lunch. Bright and sunny today here and might go shopping for treats later. :)

Hi all, Going to parents house for tea this afternoon, and trying to organise mothers 90th birthday without her knowing. Have a good day all. :):)
