I wish I'd been checked for diabetes at 6yr old. I'm probables going to die earlier than I should have. If only...... Mind you my mum would have not tested me if the dn had said not too. So I guess irrespective now.I test and I'm only pre (ooops, hope I don't get kicked off the thread) but how else am I to know how I'm doing.....
Sounds like you are made of strong stuff in more ways than one....I wish I'd been checked for diabetes at 6yr old. I'm probables going to die earlier than I should have. If only...... Mind you my mum would have not tested me if the dn had said not too. So I guess irrespective now.
It's a shame prevention isn't taken more seriously. I feel let down.
Yes I'm responsible for my own life now but what a mess I inherited. Pneumonia at 3 months old then ruptured appendicitis at 14yr old nearly killed me but I'm still here to tell the tale. Luckily. Diabetes prevents me from a problem free health no matter how good I am. Testing gives suffers power. Having the knowledge of whether your sugars are getting better or worse is essential for good mental health too. I will always support anyone, no matter which type, to keep themselves knowledgeable with their disease.
I wish I'd known sooner. :-[
Well said......Thanks @Sable_Jan and @PenfoldAPD . I appreciate everyone has different circumstances and I take heart that my mum did what she thought what was right at the time. (Not pressing gp to investigate) God love her she took me to gp on numerous occasions to be told absolute rubbish.
Ok everyone is more aware of type 2 now but come on. You are having a patient suffering long term thrush and you didn't even diagnose thrush never mind diabetes. It was a sin.
At least awareness is happening slowly but only if gps wake up to it's need for huge prevention and individual need.
One poster southportgp is doing just that. I hope it gets spreadout as normal practice rather than hit and miss awareness.
What are you knitting?Well, I'm back from my knitting group - after walking for an hour and a half today I'm ready to sink into a nice warm bath! Good night everyone
Morning EddieMorning, injected insulin and having breakfast. FBG 6.8 mmol/l. Haave an appointment with DSN at Diabetes Clinic next Thursday to get checked out and probably be put on a more rapid acting insulin, Novomix 30 was mentioned. Glad something is being done.
Morning kjcGood morning everyone hope you are all well today I'm writing this on my morning stroll to work. Bright and sunny today feeling happy and positive even with a chest infection. I have got myself some nuts on my way to work today try beat the hunger after work. I haven't really eaten nuts before mot a huge fan but first time for everything and will try anything so that I don't dip like I normally do late afternoon and keep the hunger at bay. Have a good day all.
Good morning Johnnygood morning, my dear, fine friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk type 2 life forum,
i awoke this morning at quarter to five and drank a nice, strongly brewed mug of hot tea with 2 tetley teabags, 1 x 5 ml spoonful of coffeemate milk substitute and 2 silver spoon 0 calorie artificial sweetener tablets.
i took my 1000 mg of metformin hydrochloride and vital anti-hypertensive, urine inducing and adhd and asperger syndrome medication at 6:00 am.
i smoked a few hand-rolled cigarettes and recorded them on the n.r.t preloading programme as well as the nicotine replacement therapy products that i have been using.
my blood glucose reading at 7:39 am was 5.9 millimoles per litre.
have a lovely day.
Morning debrasue'Morning, peeps!
It's another beautiful blue-and-gold morning again here in the West Country and 20 degrees forecasted again later. I do hope, though, that this isn't the only 'summer' we're going to get, as has been the case for the last couple of years!
Boiled eggs for breakfast shortly - gotta stay away from the chocolate chia pudding today; I'm liking that TOO much...Then the dog and I will have a mooch around the garden to see what's been going on during the night. I'm working this afternoon (proofreading) so I have a lazy morning planned - might bake some LC Swedish breakfast buns......
Another 5.6 on waking this morning and feeling good (despite a little residual groaning from yesterday's gardening!)
I hope everyone has a perfect day!
Hugs x
Morning LindyMorning All,
Lovely bright sunny Kent morning again today.
Just tested at 6.9, off to gym this morning then working for a couple of hours this afternoon then off to look at a Natural Track livery option for my retired old boy (horse not husband!).
Hope everyone has a great day.
Morning kevindebrause, I feel your pain...I did 3 hours gardening yesterday and my lower back was not a happy chap. Another 3 hours today of planting, so I'll be soar later, but who cares....I love it and it's going to be sunny and 18deg today here in Cambridge.
I'll bet you're longing for it and dreading it in equal measure! I know my daughter is.Gardening for me too. Oh and toddler watching inbetween. Hard work when trying to mo the large front garden lawn.
It will be done in stages. My bp always goes sky high.
Everything I do has to cater for 3yr old. Well til September.
