Type 2 Life

@PenfoldAPD I quit that thread cos we were posting FBG and used to chat a little along the lines of how various folks managed their fbg and sometimes we'd digress a little. Mods stepped in and posted any more digression ed be banned from thread for however long. Now I replied to another post, with chatty response and got banned, queried it and told I'd gone against said mods post. I argued the point that the post I replied to was a couple of pages prior to mods post but they still didn't back down. Never bothered going back to that thread....stick to ones, like this and " what are you doing right now" so I'm not derailing the thread. Stick with US penfold

Good Morning, my lovely friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk Type 2 Life Forum,

I am posting to inform you all that my health centre staff member, a very nice nurse practitioner, gave to myself a brand new True You blood glucose monitor to replace the one that either got taken from my home or misplaced by myself because of attention deficit anomalies in my autism spectrum disability/ADHD. She had to set the clock on it and check the battery power in it. I have got it now and I am going to keep it in its box and little zip-up bag with a new finger pricker and test strips.

I administered my Lixisenatide 10 mcg injection, 1000 mg of metformin, and adhd medication.

My blood glucose reading (fasting) this morning at 11:31 ante meridian was 6.7 Millimoles Per Litre.

Have a lovely day, my good, fellow diabetic friends.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Johnny Baker
Sufferer of autistic spectrum disability, adhd and suspected clinical depression.
Good morning Johnny, I'm glad you were able to get a replacement monitor. My mother uses the same one and I believe our friend @13lizanne does as well, I find it very easy to use when I check my mother's blood glucose. Well done for remembering to take your medication and your blood glucose reading was excellent. Keep up the good work!

Hi there, yeah I would but can't have high fat foods either as am in verge of high cholesterol so trying to be careful not to increase that too. I'm feeling really down to be honest as trying so hard and have cut out so many things, lister ally living on salads and lean meat, no salt, no sugar and no improvement!! Have no support from GP surgery or diabetic nurse as I'm not high priority being a type 2. Feel tearful most days as feel like no help just too much don'ts. Oh well. Oatabix was the only carb I was having in the day tbh.

Aww, sending you hugs. I felt just like you when I was diagnosed but spending some time on this forum was all the support I needed. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, we have all the expertise you need right here

I'm reckless when ill. Just been offered a cupcake with a bit of a flake on top. Feeling sorry for myself, I yummied it all up.
Years gone by I would have had the whole pk of 6. Ha ha
It's been a busy morning but I've had to postpone the post office til tomorrow. Just not up for any more crowds today. :(
Bang goes my 4s.
Back home topping up paracetamol to numb my banging head cold. Might need my bed.
Phew! I hear you say. She's bogging off. Ha ha
Have a good afternoon everyone. :depressed:

Same here, ask away we'll all chip in. We all react so differently to foods. Don't give up, keep trying and testing

@Aamena1980 - Don't get upset or stressed - it raises blood sugars. Just take 1 day at a time and use your meter to test against foods. I don't follow any 'set' diet, but I keep a food diary.(Get yourself an exercise book) Test before and list all food in that meal, then wait 2 hours and then test again - record all this information and in time you will see what you can and cannot eat. It's all trial and error.
I am partly Vegetarian - but do eat eggs, cheese, butter and like some sea food, even ate some smoked Pancetta the other day in a Carbonara when out. A meter is your most important and vital piece of equipment for any Diabetic.

I'm not surprised you're fed up if you're living on salads and lean meat!
Stick with it, hun - it will get better and there are lots of different options.

Aww, don't beat yourself up, hun - you're doing the best you can and that's all that can be expected of you. Summer colds seem so unfair, don't they?! Take care of yourself and I hope you start to feel better soon. Hugs xx

Looks like you had a terrific break all round. Good on ha PenFoldAPD

Put 5 words after my FBG post this morning and told off. Clearly I don't know the rules around here so think probably easier if I just wander off .. have enough on my plate already :(
Oh @PenfoldAPD it gets right up my nose. So petty.
I guess they get everywhere. Do what i do and play petty too and leave them a :lock:. We appreciate you. ;)
I hope your day gets better. Just think of your next camping trip. Lidl are offring some good camping accessories starting thursday. :)

Monday, so as usual - and back to front as I've been told - massage, gym, lunch, shopping next then lawn repairs this afternoon. First run since my ok from the Dr before the gardening bit though. Will be very interesting to see how cardio unfit I am....(8 week break of no cardio whatsoever) I'll let you know just for a laugh as I'm going to do 800meters just as a gentle intro:)

Yes, Oatibix definitely wouldn't work for me, either, as it's very high in carbs and would spike my BG levels straight away. I follow the LCHF approach (low carbs/high fat), so I avoid most carbs such as flour, rice, oats, bread, potatoes, pasta, couscous, etc. and instead for breakfast I have things like scrambled eggs, bacon, good quality pork sausages, full fat Greek yoghurt, berries (fresh or frozen), etc.
I'm not sure whether you've had a welcome post from @daisy1 so I'm tagging her, as she has some very helpful information which she can offer if you're looking for food options.

Hello Aamena :) Here, in my signature, is the link to the information debrasue referred to, which we give to new members. Ask more questions and someone will be able to help.

Thank you, I will try some of these recipes and see how I get on. I test my sugar pre lunch and it was 6.4, will test again a little later for the post lunch levels. I had some chicken kebabs wrapped in lettuce leaves with some cucumber batons, cherry tomatoes and gherkins. Fingers crossed the reading will be better.

I will! I have to confess I bailed on the running, so that was the safest option...haha.
