Type 2 Life

Tired, going to take time off tomorrow for the dentist. In a lot of pain and fed up and grouchy with the lack of sleep. Going to take painkillers in 5 minutes and off to bed in an hour hopefully. Night night.

Hi all got Ron a walking stick today and hes getting around a lot better even on the stairs .
Hi Do give Ron My regards. I got a walking stick the other day also maybe when I'm able to walk more than a few yards again he and I could meet up and hobble off somewhere for that beer I promised him. that's if he's able to.

I'm sure he would like that john. Walking, sitting , standing and laying down are uncomfortable for him at the minute. He can only do these for a short period of time . Hes tossing and turning in bed all night. At least the leg kicking has stopped for now. Hope you are keeping well.

I'm not doing too badly but still is only just coming up to 3 weeks since op the main problem with walking apart from my Myasthenia is they had to do an embolisation of my right iliac artery as well which means very reduced blood supply to right leg but am getting around the house a bit now will be having a check up in a few weeks at kings Mill which is better for me as only a ten minute drive so hopefully will be given the all clear to get out and about a bit more.but am sure I can manage a short trip to the pub in the next week or so or maybe sooner if not too far

regards John

Hello all,

At 12:25 am my blood sugar was 5.9.

Today I've eaten roast chicken, roast potatoes, peas and cauliflower which I cooked for myself, and my friends Lee and Ioanna. Due to my Asperger Syndrome, I am very meticulous about what I do and have good attention to detail, although due to my ADHD, I keep getting distracted and can have brainstorming sessions where I multitask on the internet looking up statistics on nation populations and things to do with my favourite political party, the Labour Party.

Have a lovely day, my friends.

@tina_marie what help is the gp providing and which painkillers was he offered?
More importantly how is @eldergarth keeping?
Hi Vicky I'm not doing to badly at the minute the doc has given me Co dydramol 2 pills 4 times a day .
When told me results of x ray he said should just send me to orthopedics but they wouldn't investigate my spine so he referred me to neurologist as it does look like has spread to my spine .
I am getting around better now got a stick and have been allowed back to work but on lite duties for next 4 weeks while waiting for appointment to come through .

Good morning Johnny, that was an excellent reading. Well done! Have you tried celeriac? It makes a very good substitute for potato, I've tried it as mash and chips and it doesn't spike my blood sugar at all. Have a good day

@ickihun - Hi Vicky, Since the Dapagliflozin was stopped my blood sugar numbers are creeping up, had another rubbish 8.0 this morning. I was told by the Diabetologist try and keep my fasting under 9 and to increase my Insulin by 2 units at any one time - but I am not doing that for fear of putting on weight. Went to a birthday T-Party yesterday and I hardly ate much = piece of homemade quiche and small slice of birthday cake. No thrush, no burning urine in fact feel good today.
What are you going to do if they don't give you Metformin when your Canaglipflozin is stopped? William x

I will have to just stick with Insulin only, but maybe need a longer lasting one. Mine only lasts 8 hours so I have to take Iate at night if i want good fbgs.
Ive tried a few earlier injections but wake on high bgs. E.g 3- 4am in morning with numb baby toe and thrushlike symptoms.
I dont have total excellent bgs for the whole time i'm awake. I have higher bgs as the day progresses til my evening injection. For the same reason as you, i dont want weight gain.
My dn wants me to take evening inj earlier but doesnt help with high bgs symptoms. I'm seeing her next month to show her my meter findings. I did tell her if horrific thrush again from canagliflozin i would stop it and run on insulin. As am i'm now. i added weight, went up to 131kg but now back to 126.70kg. Not weighing myself again til saturday. Otherwise it can get a bit obsessive.

@ickihun - Vicky, I have 30 units of Insulin on a morning between 8am - 9am and then at 6pm take 14 Units. Mine is a long acting Insulin and supposed to last 18 hours. I also take 1000mg of Metformin in the morning and then another 1000mg of Metformin in the evening. The Dapagliflozin I cannot knock for it was brilliant in keeping down my blood sugars and weight loss, - but I was in sheer agony with the burning urine and the thrush, and then when I started getting BOTH together (thrush & burning wee) I thought this is no laughing matter as it was making me bad tempered and feel like a PsychoPath? William x

I know William. I was crying with the frustration and very very severe thrush. I was pulling my hair out with the anguish of it all. No relief for over a week til tablet got out my system and intense treatment. Like you, brilliant on bgs thou.
The second time i took it i had a blockage and had to take sugar free candyrocks to flush my system out. Only good use for them. Ha ha

@ickihun - When are you going to see the Diabetic Nurse? What other tablets apart from Metformin have you been on Vicky? I am at the Hospital next Monday to see the Liver Specialist about the Fibrosis. And R sees the Dietician a few days later.

still grappling with the metformin, I am trying all sorts of things to try and get it (or rather my guts) to behave. I am sure there must be some way to get this to work, because it gives me such lovely blood sugar numbers when I take about 1500-2000 per day. Perhaps I need one of those little feeding things you use for the cat when you are out at work, I am terrible about remembering to take medication during the day, I need something that goes 'ping!' to remind me.

R Ron has an app on his phone . Hes getting very forgetful lately.

Did R find out what's causing his weight loss?
Ive taken glaclizide, stagliptin, victoza and now canagliflozin. Metformin was brillian then just stopped working and left me with loose tummy. Victoza made we ill, worse than morning sickness when pregnant. Sitagliptin stopped working too. Never noticed when but sometime when i last took metformin.
I experienced a lot of shock and stress in 2013- 2014 after giving birth which mucked me up. Not birth related but being on insulin during my second pregnancy upset my treatment plans, i think.
Seeing dn and consultant in June for check-up and i want to try metformin again but on lchf and just one slow release tablet. Canagliflozin was indeed brilliant for bgs, I miss that side of it. A catheter would prevent side effect but not practical.
Victoza on 0.8 dose was ok for me but was told to immediately increase to 1.2 after a week. I now believe it was too soon to increase. I was desperate to lose weight after birth too so i was keen to jump to 1.2 dose.
