Type 2 Life

Thanks @debrasue the good news was I only took 22minutes getting back.

@ickihun I'm feeling better already just hobbling with mediocre pain tramadol is working, i can put more weight on the hip joint than earlier this morning and I have a frog in the living room after rescuing it from one of our cats, they picked a great day to play lets torment a frog.

Luckily the Park has a pond and isn't far from us, so I will take to the pond hopefully tomorrow, seems our cat has made it an annual event, for the last 5 summer since we moved to Sheffield I've had to free a froggy.
Only 22 minutes on the return journey, huh? That's track training for you!
I used to have cats and was constantly having to rescue frogs, too. One must have got away from the cats on one occasion and hid in a pile of laundry which was on the floor. Out of the frying pan.....
Sadly, he didn't make it through the 'Whites' cycle and I found him later, cooked, wedged into the rubber door trim.
:(

@Tim55 that's what happened for me too.
My liver enzymes (ALT) were showing 132 to 23 on lchf but last test showing 52.
It's a lovely feeling that your diet can rectify any irregularities. If court early.
My improved 23 was pre r-ala supplements too.
My magnesium was good too. My adjusted calcium was a bit low. I'm going to investigate.
My eGFR is a bit low too, whatever that is.
No sign of premenopause or menopause.
I'll need a testosterone test to detect pcos back but specialist has given me a low dose of metformin to try again. So pcos detection won't be relevant if they work.
I'm hoping now no longer suffering with fatty liver metformin will work better.
Well done with your excellent liver results.
Apparently eGFR stands for estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate, and it's an estimate of kidney function.

@ickihun - @13lizanne Just rang Practice and my HBA1C has gone up to 60 -:( it was 56 in May. (I increased Insulin by 2 units this morning to 44 units) - can only increase it by 2 units at a time, so in 3 days will assess the situation and maybe? increase it?:(
Mine went from 54 to 61 due to canagliflozin hash. Yours will be because of dapagliflozin mate. I know my next one will be back in the 50s again. Yours too. Yours might be even less! STUPID TABLET.
Are you only increasing insulin because of this now inaccurate hba1c? What are the averages on your meter this week @liam1955 ?
If you're in doubt a second opinion William would be worth a consideration.

Sounds like it's a good job I've stopped canagliflozin. Nasty kidney working tablet. I can get back to normal now. What a waste of money used to make that and dapagliflozin. I hope it works for other people but it made my health worse.

Poor froggy, my partner is going to take ours to the park on her way to gym. She just texted to say it's swam off ok.

I'm back to almost normal other than a limp and some tightness in the R hip, bit of a tramadol head though tried some new protein bread, that I'd found in our local Jack Fultons http://www.myhi.co.uk/myhi-multi-seed-high-protein-bread-620 I tried just the one slice earlier with some cheese and butter, pre BGL 5.3 post 1hr 6.4 then post 2hr 5.6 it was only 2 for £1 as best before date is 11/07 I normal walk up a massive hill to my local Lidl for protein rolls it's a 4 mile walk so finding the bread was fortunate as no way am I trekking up any hills at the moment.

I feel for you Liam, I'm expecting my next Hba1c to jump a up a bit, but sometimes you need to take pragmatic view, especially when things haven't been going your way, you can't factor in those unexpected circumstance that kick you down now and then, today's the first day for me back on the LCHF do I regret the extra carbs I've had post operative, no I enjoyed them and need them too.

Wether it's the Meds, unforeseen medical drama or a fall off the wagon now and then, Liam just reassess as you say and start again. Onwards and Upwards:couchpotato:

I think "Onwards and Upwards" should be our Type 2 motto.
I also like 'all for one and one for all'.

You're making great progress - well done!

Apparently a common cause of low calcium levels is related to low kidney function, too....

Hi Vicky. Diabetic Nurse said: No, cannot add in another 500mg of Metformin as I am on the maximum daily dose of 2000mg. But she suggested increasing Insulin by 2 units every 3 days. And I said: Yeah and I will put on weight too. Have to get my HBA1C done in 3 weeks, then see her in 4 weeks time. She checked all the Diabetic Medication I had been on over the years and said there is nothing for me. The Hospital Diabetic Clinic is where I attend for my reviews and I could ring them for a chat = No Thank You! (There as much use as a chocolate fireguard:D) I cannot do an average on this meter - it's a cheaply one provided by the GP Practise - GlucoRx Nexus, my other one that I bought could and I could feed in Insulin amounts etc, it was very good, but the free Strips & Lancets on prescription git stopped, so I opted for practise freebie one. I weighed myself this morning in just undies, minus a wee. So will weigh myself weekly and see if? Any weight go's on? William:)

William does 2 units give you weight gain normally? You might get away with it. Especially once you're more active on knee meading.
Give yourself a break thou. Chill out tonight, well over the weekend and just relax as much as possible. It might be stress interfering with your bgs.
Will you promise to try and chill out and give yourself a break? .......please. (or else) ;)

@ickihun - Vicky, I was on 46 Units of Insulin, but it got reduced by 2 units a time till it reached 42 and that was a month ago. But then the 'dreaded Dapagliflozin' got stopped and I asked the Diabetologist if my Insulin could possibly be changed to one that I just inject when I eat and stop the Metformin altogether = answer was NO. I don't think the Metformin is working as good as it should, bear in mind I have been taking Metformin for 15 years - even the Pactise DN agrees with me.
Today, I am of "sound mind" - believe it or not!!:D R has arrived home with 5lb of big juicy 'my' Strawberries and he is doing dessert and mine is with Greek Yoghurt, his with Ice cream. Honestly, I am chilled - waiting for the Football to start at 8pm.
By the way, - What is the "Or Else"???:D

I have found more information in the Forum than I have from my Diabetic nurse, I thank you all.

Me too!

And the extra stuff (books, reports, videos web sites) has nearly all be pointed out to me from this amazing community:)
