Hi @PenfoldAPD .
Was 7.1 after your swim or before?
I used to test before and after to see any rise.
Then started to have a very small bag of pork scratchings before swim. It helped.
My stress level used to rise my levels. Getting dressed and the exercise raised my bgs.
Im starting a walking club next month so i may have to do similar.
From what i understand its more important for diabetics not to suffer stress. Gentle as you go!
Because you're conditioned to your swimming and changing yours msy not be too high.
Some find it stressful getting to leisure centre/parking and dressing worse than the swimming /exercise stress.
We do worry too much sometimes.
I'm pretty cool about the whole swimming experience really. I drive to the pool, park outside, enjoy my swim and some great morning banter in the showers afterwards with some of the othe guys I know. It's a very pleasant experience so it shouldn't be stressful.
Had been working about work but a major thing has cleared today. I'm hoping I can now sleep easier, I think I will.
As you say maybe we do worry too much ... I'm at 6.1 just before lunch. Planing a good LCHF day that should get me on even keel - we have a big weekend away for my parents 50th wedding anniversary this weekend so I need to be in control before going away ....
Happy birthday for tomorrow, it's my birthday tomorrow also, I will be 64, obviously older than you as your still working. Have a great day, eat some cake for meGood evening everyone sorry I haven't posted in such a long time hope everyone is well i'm really struggling at work recently. I'm a teaching assistant and the teacher I work with is such a lovely lady but she keeps buying me chocolates and cakes as a thank you and I am beginning to feel awkward constantly turning them down. She does know I'm diabetic and struggling lately to control my bloods and things are not going to get any better next week we have a bake off where all staff members are to bake a cake, take it into school and we are to try everyone's and vote on our favourite. I don't think my resolve can take any more and feel I'm about to crumble my will power is becoming non existent and feeling pretty low.I think I'm doing generally well as my meter readings are always in the 4s and 5s pre meals and fasting and pre meals are usually in the 7s or locational low 8s post meals so not great but not too bad just constantly temptation and lovely chocolate snacks and cakes to steer clear of
Sorry don't mean to sound negative just a rough patch and finding the goodies hard to resist although I was offered ice cream today and was very proud of myself when I kindly refused the children were having it as a treat it's my birthday tomorrow and tradition we always take cakes in to share think I might indulge as a birthday treat. If you can't have something nice to eat on your birthday when can you? Lol xx
happy birthday to you have a lovely day also 37 tomorrowHappy birthday for tomorrow, it's my birthday tomorrow also, I will be 64, obviously older than you as your still working. Have a great day, eat some cake for me
You poor thing! I'm not surprised you're struggling - you'd have to be super-human to resist the temptations you're being faced with on a daily basis. And the teacher you work with really isn't doing you any favours, is she? You have no reason whatsoever to feel awkward turning down the cakes and chocolates - she should be feeling bad for even thinking of offering them to you! It sounds as if the silly woman could use a crash course in diabetic complications - maybe show her some of the more gruesome illustrations of peripheral neuropathy - so that she can see what you're fighting to avoid.Good evening everyone sorry I haven't posted in such a long time hope everyone is well i'm really struggling at work recently. I have sought out low carb no sugar cake for the bake off next week needless to say that's the only cake I will be testing! I really don't think she does it on purpose she just simply doesn't think bless her she really is the nicest lady........You poor thing! The problem with indulging is that it sets up a chemical reaction which causes you to crave more, and makes life a lot harder for you when you're constantly trying to resist temptation.
It might be too late to suggest this, but how about baking a low-carb, sugar-free cake to take into school for your birthday tomorrow? This one (which serves 4-6) is cooked in the microwave, looks and tastes gorgeous, and is really quick and easy to make. If you need to cater for a larger number of people, it's easy to increase the ingredients and use a larger dish:

Or if not tomorrow, then maybe some low-carb baking next week for the bake-off, to raise your diabetic profile and show what can be done?
Cake for your birthday is a nice treat. Please tell the teacher you work for about your diabetes. She sounds lovely so surely be understanding..Good evening everyone sorry I haven't posted in such a long time hope everyone is well i'm really struggling at work recently. Considering the work worries and recently coming off meds, I think 6.1 before lunch is good, especially after that naughty chockie
I do hope you have a terrific weekend with family!!

Hi Maureen. I'm so sorry to hear things have not been going so well for you in the past week or so and that you are in such pain. It's appalling that you are not getting the care you need from your diabetic nurse, too. Is there anything you can do to get that situation changed? Today is a sad day for you, too - sometimes it's hard to believe that all these things happen for a reason. Sending you big hugs and the hope that tomorrow is a better day for you. xxxHi all hope your all well my sugars have been going up very high past week, no help from nurse, dint seem interested, been in terrible pain in shoulder, arm, legs ankle neck hip. & burning in toes. All on left side, sadly today would have been the birth of my first grandchild, tomorrow I'll be 64. Anyway hope your all well
