Stress had an awful effect on my BG, hope you can find so,e relief soon [hugs]

Saw your interview. Congratulations on a nice clear story. What I thought was particularly valuable in your interview was the part where you talk about how your own feelings about your health being attributable to being over tired were masking your real situation. The doc who suggested testing you deserves a little early holiday gift, no? Very astute of him. I had to literally make an appointment with an endocrinologist myself for a fasting blood sugar test while all my previous docs were clueless and never tested me, or if they did, at the wrong time. I thought it was also good that you let people know that your partner had the test without the same result because some people actually think that eating a particular diet causes diabetes and since they would assume that you and your partner share a diet, that would be informative in itself.

For example, docs will sometimes have you come in fasting for a bunch of tests and then after travelling to the tests, sitting in a lab and other exercise on an empty stomach, a single finger prick is not going to show much.

Kudos for your job well done

Thanks for your comments. I wanted to make people realise how diabetes can just appear in your life without warning - I wasn't obese, I wasn't a sugar monster (the classic misrepresentations many people have) - with close to 1m not diagnosed the population needs to realise how dangerous this condition can be. But, once you get on top of it you can control it :)

I had symptoms at 6yr old @PenfoldAPD . I have photographs of being chubby but ate same as my skinny sister. Different metabolism. I believe I was diabetic at 6yr old. Thrush and tiredness with energetic bursts. Hormones were never right in pubity and weight piled on through unmanaged diabetes. My GP sent me away on a numerous occasions with a cream. I didnt have a clue what life was all about never mind diabetes.
I still feel let down. My mum was highlighting the problem but no help.
I fought my weight with starvation and excessive exercise. Binge eating after realising all in vein and infertile too.
I divorced my 10yr old husband so he could meet someone else and have children. I set him free.
I buried my head in work and having a good lifestyle to match. I stayed away from children, especially my nephew. I couldnt get involved with the failure of ivf and trying any more.
No sooner I forgot about conceiving, I feel pregnant, unmarried. A new 6mth relationship with my 2 gorgeous boy's dad.
And here we are.
Came here after diabetic burn out.
Never been happier!!!!! :) :) :)

You can.
Low carb versions are available. Fill your boots @lynn007 .
Ask in low carb section of forum and loads of help to make your own if you prefer.
I found amazon a big help and atkins bars from holland & barrett. Oh and not forgetting protein rolls from lidl and oppo ice cream from h & b and waitrose.
My fav is chocolate sauce on a normal pancake or berries and nuts. Choc sauce made from 80+% dark chocolate and double cream.

@ickihun is right, @lynn007. Once you've got your head around it, you'll become just as enthusiastic as the rest of us about making sugar-free, low-carb treats to make life more enjoyable. It doesn't mean you have to spend your life in the kitchen, either - many of the treats are really quick and easy to make!
If you don't believe me, and you like prunes, chocolate and amaretto, or raspberries, PM me and I'll let you have two really yummy recipes for cheesecake, neither of which need any baking at all.
:)
