Type 2 Life

You betya I'll stay on the forum. The main reason I managed to come off the diabetes medication after almost 10yrs was finding this forum and starting the lchf way of eating. The information I got from the forum members here enabled me to make right choices and the affectionate support we give each other is the best medicine of all.

@13lizanne - Ah that is really sweet Anna, but it's so true. When you got home did you celebrate with a 'Finger Roll and M & S Ham' as your reward? I'm all for "rewards" when good, it boosts us.:joyful:

Actually you're not far wrong, I went to M&S this afternoon and bought these very items which I'll have for supper tonight but I walked there + back ( 1+ hrs) so I've burned off extra amount of sugar :). p's you know me so well lol

Hello @liam1955 . It was only a blood test for 6 month review with a healthcare assistant. Result will be next week. I presume it will be a hbc1?? I never know the letters. Lol

@mo53 - HBA1C. And how do you think it will be? Have you been good of late??? I absolutely dread those HBA1C - mine go's to GP as well as Hospital Diabetic Clinic. Would you believe that I attend BOTH!!! A fortnight after going to the hospital clinic I then go to my Clinic at GP Surgery (hospital never tells my GP anything) but, at GP Diabetic Clinic they check: my feet, - Urine, - BP, - Injection Sites, - Weight they are really good. The hospital don't check anything except my food diary. My next HBA1C is due to be done in April.:) W.

@TooManyCrisps - I see that you are Type 2. I am wondering if you are diet controlled? Or take tablets for Diabetes? ;) William.

Diet (not yet!) Controlled. GP doesn't want me to try meds until I've tried diet. Im doing LCHF but its early days. I'm really hoping my next Hba1c test will show an improvement

Yesterday was an interesting day - my new washer was delivered and rather than pay through the nose to have it installed I did it myself :) I did have an impromptu shower cos the stopcock was too stiff (which caused much hilarity when I told DS!) but the best thing was the phone call I got afterwards. It was from a temping agency who want me to come and register with them tomorrow!

How utterly wonderful @Diamum5972 I am SO thrilled for you re temp job and in awe of your plumbing skills :) Hurrah and yaay
Thanks, I'm keeping my fingers crossed at the moment cos I'm running the first wash :) They haven't got a specific job for me just yet but they seem to be quite popular, they advertise a lot of their jobs online. Even better, the office is just a 10 minute walk from my house so I can pop down there any time

@liam1955 you sound as though you are very well cared for. Smashing. I will have to ring up next week and then persuade the receptionist to give me the number for the test result. Usually I manage to talk them into it. Lol I only see the diabetic nurse once a year. She is a really nice lady and we get on well but our conversations run on parallel lines. She talks of the eat well plate and I talk of lchf and we both smile and agree with each other lol

You may ask @LinsT ! I did ask but understood none of the explanation apart from "the target figures for long term type 2 diabetics are 46-52 "at least I think that's what he said, I had switched off by then to be honest with you!

I don't think my request was being unjust? On the A to Z Film Star Game!

@13lizanne he actually looked a bit confused but my nurse is really pleased. No meds just very LCHF. I started out on meds when I was diagnosed with an Hb of 100 but I stopped all meds just over a year ago. 40 is still in the non diabetic range so you are doing so well, especially sibce you have been diabetic for 10 years, it just goes to show what can be achieved with the right information and support.

I know, I do feel really sorry for the people who accept what the GP/DN tells them and who would probably give our way of managing their diabetes a go if they only knew about lchf etc. Do you take a lot of exercise @4ratbags ?
