Type 2 Life

@Gembird - Hello, what @TooManyCrisps was meaning/referring to - is that we have what is called a 'Dawn Phenomenon' during early morning caused by our Livers dumping stored glucose into your bloodstream on waking to boost your energy. A lot of diabetic people can get high blood sugar readings first thing on a morning.:)

@mo53 - I hope you are recording all this information ? Questionnaires will be handed out at a later date to you all. This forum is so Valuable and a brilliant source of information, even I learn new stuff all the time. And the people on it are not bad too!!!! :D:D

@DR123 - I know only too well about Sciatica, it comes and go's with me. Have you ever thought about Acupuncture? I had a course of it on prescription from my GP some years ago (not sure if they would prescribe it now - with cutbacks?) It did not work every time for me, but when it did I was pain free for a good 24 hours.
Like You @Stallen I also have Herniated Disc's = L4/5 & L5/S1 it was my 2nd MRI Scan in June 2014 that revealed I have Arthritis in my spine. And just to update you I begin next Tuesday 29th my 3rd Biological Drug of Cosentyx, so fingers crossed this works for me. :)
Hi Liam my fingers are crossed for you, lets hope it will be the one that works for you. My old osteopath use to stick pins in as she trained in acupuncture however the best results I got was from joint manipulation and she use to use her elbow a lot., i have to say she did work miracles somedays.

Just off to have my bloods taken for latest HbA1c I'll get results on Tuesday I'm quietly confident it will be 40ish :) then on to Hosp to speak to our Autistic son's ENT doc regarding his treatment.

This is about refusing cake ... this morning I went to a meeting of a local history group, for the first time, i.e. meeting 8 people I've never crossed paths with before. At the mid-class coffee break time, someone came round handing out slices of home-made cake, and I refused it, saying I couldn't eat cake. At first it was assumed I had some sort of allergy - gluten, milk, etc. I said, no, I was T2, on no medication, with my condition managed by eating as little carbohydrate foods of any sort as possible. Well, what an interesting response! I was obviously a first for anyone like this for the group to come across. Some of the group knew other diabetics, but no-one who didn't eat any sort of cake! An interesting experience.

Hi all,
Hope everyone is having a good day (or better than it was yesterday if it was not good).

You can tell school holidays are near, the weather has turned wet, just for a change. It's quite miserable here.

@liam1955 , good news regarding the new medication, here's hoping it works well and fast. As for the 10lbs, have you thought about a bacon slicer?

@mo53, running after a little one is much more exercise than swimming, lol.

@13lizanne , good luck with the blood results and hope the ENT meeting is very constructive and helpful.

My good news for today is I just got my blood test results and my HbA1c is down to 43 - that's another 10 down from last time

@doolallylady - Karen, like the bacon slicer that was funny:D But, it's all at the front on my belly, I have 'average sized' arms and legs with not any fat and I inject the Insulin daily in my belly. I've got a couple of months left before I am due for my Hospital Diabetic Review - and I will be eating salads in the summer, so there's hope still!!:)

@paula.nolan42 - That is a fantastic result, bet you are so chuffed. Continue what you are doing, Well Done YOU:joyful::joyful: That number 43 puts you in the prediabetic category - Just!!! (42 to 47 is prediabetic category).

I've had a few awkward sugar free biscuit moments, when someone has gone out and bought sugar free biscuits trying to be nice and to cater for me, only for me to go on to explains the whole net carbs turns to 100%glucose so I can't have them.

@liam1955 I too have my fingers crossed for you. You deserve a tablet/inj which works for you for a change.
My best friend uses Tramadol and has done for years. She still has problems.
Your arthritis sounds a huge pain. You are a trooper. One strong bod.
My mum has crumbling spine and has some horrific days. I'm the only daughter which helps her physically as 2 sisters suffer with arthritis too.
I don't know if living down south most of my adult life has helped or I'm the postmans but no arthritis but only one diabetic.
Black sheep me! :-$

Really !!!! Pre-diabetic - well now I am chuffed - but I cant become complacent because that bar of Toberlone was a killer yesterday

@ickihun - We must be related then? Obviously our postman moved down to where your parents lived!!:D:D I am the black sheep in my family. Got 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters and they are "Angels" - I was always the naughty one!!! (Still am, so my partner tells me!) I took 6 TRAMADOL capsules everyday for 3 years, only last year I was "weaned" off them under my GP;s supervision (Tramadol is a member of the Opiate's) This drug I am going to use only became available last May in Britain and the reports are outstanding apparently. So, there is hope and unless we try and try we will never know. Today, is better than the last few days, and I don't know about blood sugars - NEVER expected a 6.2 this morning, so I was surprised, but pleased with that. And I had hoped I got a 'winner' rating from you = I did too. Yippee.

Yes definitely related. Even same shade of black. Ha ha
I must go as the 2 kids are running riot as dad is talking to friends on the phone.
Hopefully back before the moonshine.
Stay happy. Vicky :-)

@paula.nolan42 - 48 or over indicates Diabetes. 42 indicates Normal category. I am really pleased for you, because I know you had a bit of a tough time not so long back, but you stuck with it and got through it. And others on here that are your friends will tell you and award you the praise that you deserve. Be PROUD:D

Back from clinic &hosp thought you'd like to know - my DN couldn't get any blood out of me she had to go and ask the healthcare asstnt to do it! They're also testing for anaemia and thyroid function as well as HbA1c so that's a full set for me. Hosp was a bit frenzied with our boy getting distressed and "adooing" the place down. When a handsome 6ft tall young guy starts shouting adoo you get some funny looks. He was great getting his swabs taken though so that was good! Ah the fun we have! :)

@13lizanne - Thank You Anna for keeping us updated. So you will get the results on Tuesday from your bloods, and there was nothing worrying about your Son - which is also good to know.:cat: Wmxx

Stay lying down on your back, it does tend to disappear inside then (of course the dent in the bed gets deeper) :p

Hello everybody. Today is definetly a good news day :)
@13lizanne fingers crossed for results on Tuesday. I'm glad your son managed the swabs ok.

@paula.nolan42 Wonderful news! Well done! Fantastic!

I've been swimming. 40 minutes and 30 lengths.

@doolallylady . I like your thoughts on exercise. I think your right. Playing with grandson certainly seems to make me tireder than swimming. Lol

We have got quite a few Comediennes on this forum. Don't you think they would be better off on the Stage??? Yeah, Sweeping it!!!:D:D I am off to cook now.
