Type 2 Life

Been absent for a couple of days. Interesting though. Still waiting until after my HB1ac before I can up medication so BS is bumping along in the 8s until today when it zoomed up to 9.7! Couldnt resist one of my local butcher's homemade steak and kidney pies. Had it with nice sensible veg, but that doesnt take away the effects of pastry. Got a letter through the post telling me that my retinal scans were normal, which cheered me up a bit. Decided to get all active and went to the allotment, dragging my tools up in a shopping trolley for the mile walk, doing a lot of digging, weeding and planting, then walking home again. Quite strenuous. Out of interest I took my blood sugar (I normally only take morning readings) and it was 5.2 - rather pleased with that. Have discovered kale, nice and dark green - going to see what needs to be done to grow that on the allotment - in the meantime I shall buy it in the shops. My mother always said that the darker green the cabbage - the better it is for you.

That's me updated.

Hi @eddie1968 - Glad that you have recovered from your recent illness.:) How did the baking go? @13lizanne is away for the week. I'm not much fun at the moment, knee trauma set off Sciatica, which made my Herniated Disc's play up, and pain is sending my blood sugars and me = 'Crazy'!!

Morning, going to the docs this morning. I have developed oral thrush as well as the thrush in ahem other spots (I got a cream last week and it's clearing). My immune system is wrecked at the moment. FBG 5.9 mmol/l. Going to have a soft breakfast as my tongue, cheeks and throat are sore and painful. Can't seem to win at the moment health wise. :)

Awww William, I'm so sorry to hear things are not going well for you at present. Is it this week you're seeing the GP? Big hugs xxx

I shone a torch into my mouth, looked in the mirror and pressed my tongue down and lots of redness and white plaques everywhere. Yes it is the effects of two antibiotics, Co-Amoxiclav 500mg and Cipro, they have let the fungi have a field day withe all the non competition of bacteria. Didn't think I would be "Dettoled" lol

Anybody used silicon baking trays/moulds for baking ? I bought a heap of them a while ago but haven't used them and used the metal ones instead. Are they better ? Doubt I will be eating hard stuff but will try debrasue's low carb scones later this week. :)

Fed up with cooking eggs for breakfast I'm trying Fage yoghurt with 6 strawberries and 6 raspberries (I counted!). Will test in two hours. Was at 7.1 before eating - think the liver dump is happening. Slipped w bit this weekend so need to get back on track :)

After a busy time with work last week so looking forward to a regular swim, work, eat week!

Morning all, sorry for my absence recently - I was dashing about like a clockwork mouse last week! I've found out I've been shortlisted for a job in Warwick so I've been researching travel options.

So did mine. Something to do with more iron
You need to test before and after meals to get a proper picture. You may be doing better than you think. The fasting test is a very unreliable indicator as its the most difficult to control. If you test before and after meals you will see how much certain foods make your bs rise and learn which to avoid or cut your portion size. Obviously as you found exercise affects this so for instance sausages mash & beans may give a big rise yet if you go down to the allotment after you may have no, or very little rise. Hope this helps
