Type 2 Life

@kjc2011 I could so easily be in a similar position if I worked with different staff! There is no pressure at all to accept any of the food treats constantly available.

My current students are very good and have been trained it's fine, even polite, to offer me whatever is available but not to be offended if I say "No" or "I'm sorry, I can't have anything like that today.". They've also learnt not to say in accusing tones "You shouldn't eat that!" On Fish and Chips day, I often support a student who is fascinated by the blood testing, loves to watch it, and we have a deal if my pre-lunch blood test is under whatever I've told her I'm aiming for that day, I accept the chip she always politely offers.
I work in an evironment which involves a lot of meetings. That usually includes loads of bikkies and juice on offer in the mornings, 'standard' buffet fare (mini sausage rolls, quiches, etc etc) at lunchtimes, and then tea and more bikkies mid pm.... In the past I would have indulged (possibly one of the reasons I am where I am) but clearly cannot anymore. It really hurts, but is the price I pay being abnormal in a normal world! - it's my problem not theirs!
Btw - none of them know about my 'condition' nor do I want them to!

Hi KimG

You've had a bad 12 weeks...don't beat yourself up. As well as coping with your mother's death you were coping with tests to see if you too had the same nasty disease. On top of that you've got serious pain with your arthritis (which no doubt severely limits your mobility.
Don't worry about your HbA1C, if it's the end of August you'll have got two out of the three months that covers back on LCHF.. and when you do discuss the results make sure you mention the last 3 months cos as well as veering away from your diet stress can have contributed to high sugar levels.
Hi Sable-Jan, thank you for your kind words :).

Morning @KimG how is the lchf going today? Good to see you back on the forum. I like the new avatar, when I saw the headphones I thought - rock concert? Then I thought - No, this is Kim she's clay pigeon shooting or at Brands Hatch
Lol. Clay pigeon shooting :joyful:. I'm a bit rubbish but I enjoy it. I had a short round of golf this morning to wake me up. I'm back on my LCHF and noting all the food down in myfitnesspal - it keeps me on the straight and narrow. I had a rather sleepless night last night. It happens every time I go to my mum's to clear the house :(. Heading for the amenity tip later. Had to go back today to collect some more stuff. Quiz tonight. Have to have a ham and cheese Ploughman's as the meal that goes with the quiz tonight has rice or potatoes or chips with it . Have a good day x

It is lovely to have you back!
My fbg knew you were coming so showed me a 14.4 this morning. lol
I didnt take my insulin last night in fear of a hypo since starting back on metformin. My mistake is i should have stuck with my reduced level but got side tracked and went to bed shattered (now realising i was high).
I knew id be having a time of uncertain fbgs but im not surprised at my 14 since i had 4 slices of white bread yesterday lunchtime.
The metformin 500mg XL is working for me. Im still only on one for lunch and one with dinner and on thursday i have to double up.
Oh its all fun and games.
Welcome back to the mad house ! :wacky::wacky::wacky:
Thank you ickihun! Glad to be back x

Like that word. Might add it to my repertoire along with peeshing down and blowing a hoolie
Love de-jammyfication - I'm definitely adding it to my repertoire, too.
Others I have added include one my niece came out with when she was two, whilst placing her order for breakfast: "Strangled eggs"
And there is also one my daughter instigated at around the same age, when she was asked how she felt about her upcoming holiday - "upcited".

We call smoked cod or haddock "goldfish" after my son asked for it when we were at fruit & veg shop (sold fish too btw)
"baby bear's porridge" for when something is spot on or "just right"
Love the "strangled eggs"

Ah, yes - there's something quite poetically perfect about 'baby bear's porridge'... That's going to have to enter the repertoire, too!

@ickihun thanks. Yeah I do need to treat myself. I'm really not that motivated on material possessions though. The last big personal purchase was my iPad Pro 12.9" 128 GB + Apple keyboard + Apple Pencil which totalled in at around a grand. I really am overjoyed with it and it gets used a lot. The rest of my life is not lacking, my house has nice furniture, appliances and my wardrobes are jammed packed after years of compulsive clothes buying lol. I could spend hours internet shopping but I'm usually stuck on what to buy ! I do not over shop anymore, hate clutter and do not like wasting money. Simple and usually free or low cost stuff entertains me - easily pleased. :)
What interests out of work do you have?
Did you decide to go out?
You know Eddie. I get where you are at.
When i had time off i usually spent it at home. Enjoying my home which i at the time paid through the nose for (London prices).
I understand Eddie. ;)

I think that the definition of ultimate fulfillment is having the freedom and ability to choose exactly when to spend time at home, enjoying your home, and when to go out and enjoy going to places and doing things you love.
It's a hard balance to achieve, in my opinion; many of us may have the time to spend at home without really enjoying the place where we live, or we may have the time to go out but may not have the money or ability to do the things we love.
I feel very blessed in almost achieving it: I have the freedom to choose, I adore my home, and I have enough money to indulge myself in the ways I choose. But I don't have the physical ability any longer to do some of the things that I used to enjoy.
Ah well, swings and roundabouts, I guess...
:)
