Type 2 Life

6.4 this morning. 5.2 before evening meal and 6.0 after so that seemed fine. Did .sleep longer than usual but that should have helped. Well I might now look to see if I can bring these fasting readings down a bit. Others seem OK except when stressed.

Morning Folks

Had a nice 4.0 before tea yesterday but then went out to our local Indian Restaurant.

I am pretty careful, limit myself to no more than half of 1 chapati and went for Jingha (prawn) Karai.

Ok, might have had a few lagers and a single malt too - oh and a small bit of Banoffee pie as well, but even so I was a bit surprised to see 6.2 this morning.

I'm actually blaming that more on having a cold and a bad night coughing, spluttering and sneezing....

I find my fasting levels are usually the highest of the day and took a long time to come down.

Hope you feel better soon. I'm also fighting my morning fasting levels, having got them down they have gone up over the last couple of months.

5.8 this morning, not too sure what happened last night, 4.4 before and 8.2!!! 2 hours after an aubergine curry, home made.... and wondering about the black pudding, which had been okay(ish) before..... but never again, that is for sure....
not being doing quite some much exercise recently, work being a bit more busy....
meetings, what are they good for? Absolutely nothing... say it again!
Good Sunday folks.

5.2 very happy with that. Did a lot of testing yesterday as it was 6.4 fasting and every reading was lower than that even after meals so I am going to relax a bit.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. I get really bad steroid munchies but find sucking a frozen grapes or blueberry helps , keeping busy also helps with the munchies

Levels were down in the 6's :) until last night when they went up to the 12's but thats because I slipped :)

I've been sticking to a LCHF diet and it seems to be working in general. I'm self testing and apart from a few minor glitches its slowly bring my levels down well until last night that is.

I'll openly admit I ate half a tub of popping candy ice cream and despite the grief I'll fully expect to get from the girlfriend if I eat the other half with in the next month, it was worth it It. after 8 weeks or so of no sugar and only sweeteners its was glorious.

sorry but needed to just revel in the thought of the delight I experienced eating something with sugar in again.

I too slip on the lchf diet. I keep forgetting to eat fat. I'm finding that harder than cooking veg so I can fill up on them. Had carrots yesterday but still has good bgs. So had a treat last night. Naughty but nice. Still in 7s for fasting. Much better than 8s on verio iq meter. Now redundant it didn't do my confidence any good.

My Gf's found a quick and easier way to increase the fat content when eating veg (the fact that it makes yucky veg taste nice is a by product. I'm a 3 year old when it comes to veg).

She places all the veg in a big pasta pot and covers them in water and adds a teaspoon of salt and then simmers them for 20/30 minutes.

Then she drains them and places about half a pack of butter (roughly 100g) in the pot, melts the butter, dumps the veg back in the pot and stirs and serves.

She normally cooks five bags of 750 grams of veg.

I'm good with the butter treatment.....
but I have to say I really can't think of any veg, green that is, that needs more than 4 minutes boiling.... I'm quite happy to shred a cabbage and boil it for 2 minutes and this is it cooked, ready to go, it's the last thing I cook before serving. :hungry: :)

4.9 first am sub 5 in an age... who knows... maybe not grazing quite so much... though dinner was slightly later than normal...
Good tuesdays chums.
and still windy....

5.4 I'm happy with that and probably won't test quite as much as long as the morning readings are OK All other readings have been under 6.5 so don't seem to be spiking very much.

I've found out that if I get up a bit earlier my readings are lower. I was 6.8 this morning because I got up at 7 instead of 8 :) I've been eating pork scratchings as a snack (Home Bargains does a nice big bag at a reasonable price) and it seems to be making a difference with my savoury cravings yay!

A friend of mine has given me her old bike so after a quick check up at the bike shop it's now ready to go. As soon as the weather is a bit better that is!

5.0 this morning
Good day yesterday, great swim with son in the morning, bit of work in the afternoon, taking a half day holiday in the morning, loads of haddock for dinner and then a 40 min walk afterwards, reading a John Grisham and watched the Potters on 2.

As predicted. Brushed off by the not so good gp. Apparently I've injured my shoulder. Pushing the baby buggy.
Well I'm one for being fair. So I'll take his advice and use the gel and hot water bottle with stretching exercises. Alongside the ibuprofen I'm already taking. I'll give it over the weekend and then I'll go back if no better.
I'm no doctor so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Anything for an easy life.... for now.

Hi there Ickihun - Just read your post... I've suffered the shoulder thing, ended up with a frozen shoulder. I'm NOT wanting to add to your troubles,,, Just keep a eye out for reduced mobility - gentle exercise will help (but a frozen shoulder hurts like a B'STRD!)

On other stuff - I don't know what to say apart from you have my best thoughts (I know where're your at - been there and it ain't nice)... If you need an interesting recipe for something, let me know! I have an array of winter warmers that'll warm the cockles of your heart!!!
