Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.8 for me this morning. I'm on short course of Trimethoprim at the moment and wonder if that is making my levels higher?

Back to within range! - 4.8 on my backup meter. Still have a cold and the eye infection so the number should get even better!

You are doing pretty good in spite of your cold and eye infection, asparagusp. Hope they clear up soon.

Had Indian takeaway for dinner and fbs this morning jumped up to 5.8. Guess it was the chicken biriani. It was delicious though.

New to this - but here goes - 6.7 - been told anything between 5 and 7 is good??

Sue - Newcastle, NSW Australia

Ranges for Type 2's:
Before Meals 4 to 7.
2 hours after Meals between 4 to 9.

Interesting @Liam1955 - does this differ if using insulin?

Have been told as above to aim for between 5 and 7 fasting - no suggestions before meals - but under 10 at 2 hours after meals.

Having put on 5kg (from 75 to 80) since starting insulin at end of November - which endo and diabetic nurse seem to feel is quite normal - have been advised by dietician (who like me wasn't impressed!) to try reducing carbs to less than the 10-12 serves a day I'd been told to stick to and try to increase protein .
