Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Hi @Greg1957 when where you diagnosed, just trying to workout how long you've been trying to get your BG down, and what foods are you eating to help you reduce them! K
Diagnosed years ago, tried lots of things on my own, I only discovered this forum last weekend, been on a low carb diet since, and have quit gliclizide, lost 4lbs in a week, was getting bg of 14+ before I started this diet, so something is stirring.

4.9 this morning. Given all the evidence against taking statins how many of you are still taking it. I’m still taking it but would like to stop just a bit frightened to bite the bullet.
I'd take it if my blood test had come back with inflammation but it didn't and I can control mine with diet. Some cannot because its genetical.

@Greg1957 Exactly same has myself 17 years found this site myself around 2 years ago and never looked back, there are a number of different diets to follow but the main thing you need to reduce is the carbs rice potatoes bread etc fill up with extra veg. I've been on LCHF which is low carb high fat diet for just over 12 months lost 4 stone in weight no meds for diabetes but recently started on statins due to raised cholesterol levels. If you need any advice this is where you will get help and advice a huge community on here we all had same problems but so helpful so ask away anything you need answering. K

@NewTD2 your welcome will tag @daisy1 for you so you can get a better idea about looking after yourself with type2 diabetes, wish you well and don't be afraid of asking any questions that's what this site is all about to help you through it all. So much help and advice on here takes a little time to work out how to navigate the different forums and threads but you will get the hand of it, I'm sure! Again just ask. K

My DN/Medical team suspects T1.5 (LADA) so I need to get anti body tests done in Jan.

If it’s positive, I’ll be progressing to Type 1 on insulin.

@NewTD2 Here in my signature is the link to the Basic Information for new members and I hope you will find it helpful. Also there is a link to the Low Carb Program which should help you. Ask questions when you need to and someone will help.

Hi @NewTD2 Good luck in January hope it not T1.5 Lada , not exactly knowing about this there seems so many new types now but again their are others on here with the same type 1.5 LADA diabetes has I've seen it on the home page so plenty of information for you should you be diagnosed with this type. And allways remember we all fall off the wagon so to speak from time to time, we are only human so if this happens stay on here and post to others. Talking about how you feel with others does help, I do wish you well I've been type2 for 17 years and never had a clue how to manage my diabetes until I found this site 2 years ago. Wished this had been around then and of course the technology , but it's here now for others like yourself good luck. K

Yeah it just seems to be one thing after another for everybody just now I’m self employed and sometimes just have to try and work through it Friday was supposed to be my big pay day but until we carry a portable loo in the taxi then a day off has to happen
But I’ll have a couple off vodka’s tonight and see what tomorrow brings
Hope all your family shakes all the bugs away soon and enjoy Christmas
