Hi all, dull start to the day but the air is warm, might get sunny later, anyway that's the weather forecast for Exeter Devon now the fasting result for this morning at 08:30 it was a pleasant 4.9

Good news and hope you can sort out the BP. Have you checked your times? What did you get? Didn't do mine today as have to take the dog on a long slow run later.

Bonjour@Baruney,I hope it will get sorted out,I really dislike having to take pills at all, and having changing medications all the time, well it just makes me low in spirits ( that is not a cue to mention red wine, vodka, or whiskies of any kind)

My result was 42.03 which is not a personal best. I think if I can achieve a 35 I will be happy - that is my goal, running the whole way. You are lucky, having a dog. Ours died a long time ago and we ended up looking after two cats for a friend, which then became a permanent situation. Now there is only one cat, but unfair, I think, to introduce a boisterous dog into its elderly and settled existence.

5.7 fasting. Happy with that unlike my curry last night.

So shin of beef had been in the slow cooker all day and just coming up to perfection (even if I say so myself!). Sauce is nice and spicy but a little bit wet so decided to experiment with psyllium husks to thicken it up before adding a big bag of spinich and coconut cream for the last half hour. Yum.

Disaster. The ph turned the sauce into a big gloopy, slimey mess and took all the flavour out of the curry. Won't be doing that again.

Or to cut a long story short....if anyone tells you to use psyllium husks as a great way to thicken a sauce clip them round the ear.

Thanks Baruney just did my 2 hour check 11.9 !!!! double checked the same ,i am on tablets to help me stop smoking but never shot up that high
The old champix! I gave up years ago after many failed attempts - willpower, Alan Carr, patches, champix I could go on. Eventually cracked it when those e cigs first came out. Guess it was the visual aspect of seeing 'smoke' coming out of my mouth but it worked.

They are cheap as chips now and better for you than chips. Maybe have a go if you are stressing? Anything is better than the fags so don't give in. Go for it!

Bonjour Mon ami

Yep monty love his runs. I run with a backpack and monty has a chest harness conected to my belt with an elasticated lead in case there are any cats lurking!

Would love to see a cat on a parkrun!

Hi there, after experimenting quite a lot, I discovered leeks to be the best thickeners;-) So instead of onions, I add generously, chopped leeks. The onion flavour is the same, but the juices are naturally thicker, and a bit jellyish as it cools down. Same for curries, same results, and no need for extra chickpea flour for thickness:-D

Sounds good. Usually I just boil down and thicken with greek yogurt or creme frais at the end to thicken and calm it down for the other half. Have used very finely chopped onions to thicken in past but will try leeks in next one.

Cheers.

Hi Tim

You only get your prescription free if you take the drugs as well - if you are only on diet and exercise than you have to pay. Had the exact opposite experience when I first went for my strips with the pharma insisting that I didn't have to pay!

And of course the incentive is not to do the best thing if you can and manage the condition through diet and exercise.

Good morning all :) (20/06/15)

I'm beginning to wonder if my meter might be getting faulty! Tested at 5.8 and thought "that can't be right" so immediately tested again and got a 4.0!

Whichever reading is right I am happy enough :)
You probably already know this but best to wash and dry hands before testing.

Afternoon all:)
Had a manic morning making cheese &apple muffins with the kids , was quick making the muffins but took me an hour to tidy up the kitchen after lol ..... love the week-ends !!:p
Anyway 6.1 for me this morning :D:D

I sometimes add ground almonds (not more than a scant tablespoon) to thicken a curry, but at an early stage so it has time to swell up.

I woke up really early today, it being Saturday, and tested my BG at 6:30 am - was 5.2 mmol/L. Then I returned to bed and slept till 10:30, when I tested again and got another 5.2. Whatever happened to my liver dump?
