ahhh, well, uhmmmm. 7.4 at8:30am. Well I did treat myself to a Chinese last night - half a carton of rice.kebooom.

Opened my eyes and tested - 7

Lay in bed for half an hour, went downstairs, fed the cats, went to the loo, washed my hands, weighed myself, tested - 5.8

Good morning everyone. I'm back from our holiday in Scotland with the following morning fasting results:

Saturday after a night in a hotel and a meal out: 6.3
Sunday 5.3
Monday 5.7
Tuesday 5.7
Wednesday 5.2 (lowest ever)
Thursday 5.4
Friday 5.8
Saturday 5.8

This morning 5.3

Really chuffed, also delighted with the pre and post prandial readings I took as they were significantly lower than normal. Average peak was 6.6. At one point I was sure my meter was broken!

Good to see quite a few improvements from you all.

8.2 this morning, but I think I messed up last night.

I was hungry just before going to bed, so I ate a banana.........apparently not a good move.

Welcome back, I hope you had a lovely time in Scotland.

Your figures look really good too.

We missed you titty!!

We live and learn! Bananas are one of the worst things to eat. They are instant sugar, which is why you see tennis players eating them between games. Try some cheese if you are hungry before bed, although I find a glass of water does the trick.

And I missed all of you. It wasn't nice .... no Wifi, no hot spots, no 3G and zero phone signals at the cottage or surrounds. I got withdrawal symptoms.

Welcome back!
I'm glad you mentioned the water because I find that helps me and wondered about posting about it. I'm having a rest from testing because I was sent home from work on Thursday and told to rest. I've been getting little sleep due to work load and have had a coule of panic attacks, which I don't normally suffer from. I'm awaiting results of thyroid and ECG tests.

I'm sorry to hear that. I noticed on another thread you were working at some unearthly hour of the morning. Time to do as you are told and rest. I hope all goes well with the tests.

I'm at a loss to understand why you would eat that. Surely you knew what the outcome would be.

I did, and it's because I like it! I figure that going off-plan now and again is okay, as long as I get the figures down soonish. It gives me something to look forward to after a hard week and I've only been eating lchf for a few weeks and though I see the benefits, it's hard sometimes and I miss some of the foods I used to really enjoy. No doubt my desires/cravings will get less the longer I go and as I adapt to the new lifestyle.

So, in your view, what were the differences (aside from a lack of internet and phone) were there on holiday that could have impacted on your scores?

You must be very happy.

4.2 for me this morning after a day or so outside my ranges. I'm still a bit off colour today but I slept incredibly soundly last night.

Let's see what another 24 hours brings.

The only real differences were we were out and about all day every day. I didn't walk a great deal further than normal, but probably more inclines than I'm used to. I was surprised because on self catering holidays we go for easy quick to cook food at evening meals, and several of these meals included frozen chips deep fried and more red wine than normal. I shall see what happens now we are back.

I used to test in bed using hand gel to clean first but apparently that's bad

Why is hand gel bad? I use it all the time.

Apparently it can skew the meter readings. X

Welcome back Bluetit! I'm about to leave for Africa after yet another week of results in the low 6s. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next week.
