Diet needs looking at?
hi Jack

The fasting figures are the hardest to control. As long as your pre and post meal readings are good then I wouldn't worry overmuch about it

just a question though.....are you testing almost as soon as you're out of bed? It can make a big difference if you've shaved and showered first. Search the main site for liver dump or dawn phenomenon to explain
Hope this helps

I test as my feet touch the floor!
Yup I test at the right times and I've been testing a half a dozen times a day but I'm easing up on it a little now my latest fasting figures are astounding the docs.

Went to my docs this evening about my throat ... Pharyngitis.
The more interesting topic was my diabetes.
She's been reading my notes and reckons my readings are that good I could almost be considered none diabetic.
She admits she has been converted to the low carb message.
Low carb is the way forward she says.
The high fat she's holding judgement on for the time being but no statins and lower cholesterol is confusing her a bit.
Lets see in six months time.
She was about to take my blood pressure and stopped and said no .... I know it's not going to be of concern.
Amazing!
I'd only gone about my sore throat!
Just in case you missed it Sable ....

I've totally changed my diet since the beginning of February and have not had any potatoes, pasta, rice or my beloved artisan white bread. I only occasionally have a slice of Seed Sensations or Burgen Soya and Linseed.

Yesterday my food intake was:

Greek style coconut yogurt, mixed berries & 50 grams granola (after 2 hours 5.8)

1 large cup of homemade vegetable soup (after 2 hours 7.7)

Casserole lamb shank and Celeriac mash (after 2 hours 5.7)

Coconut yoghurt and raspberries (after 2 hours 7.2)

I think the coconut yoghurt didn't do me any favours as it's 10.4 g per 100g compared to my usual 5.1g.
Try Alpro plain yogurt with coconut. They do an almond one too and a plain, plain one. The fruity ones are higher but still around your usual

Plain full fat yoghurt has to be best even better if you make your own.
Dead easy no equipment needed.
Add your own stuff then and know exactly what's in there.

85 mg/dl or 4.72 mmoles/l

Results back to normal ie sub 90, dumped the yogurt I was eating in the evening. It contained 7 grams carbohydrates/100 grams, at the time it looked like the label indicated1 gram/100 grams. Big mistake and shows just how we can be sensitive to carbohydrates ie the difference was between 20 grams/day and 26 grams a day. Even the 12 hour night time fast was not enough overcome this difference.

8.7 this morning. Not bad considering last nights beer consumption and the fact I got in at 4 and ate loads of chicken. Testing throughout the night and bg stayed around the 9 mark.. not too bad. Should knock it on its head like.

7.0 this morning not too bad had chip shop fish and mussy peas for tea. Only pinched a few of Dad's chips

I'm VERY late on parade- a whole day!! Missed you all yesterday, I was on a long day at the homeless hostel- day off today and then tomorrow is opening day of the season at the holiday centre so I will have my receptionist head back on!!
Today 5.5 after a bedtime of 5.7, was probably a little lower in truth as I hadn't long got off my exercise bike (couldn't miss it even though late!)
Yesterday was 5.8 fasting

11.7 this am had to get up last eve and have some thing to eat as it dropped growls:meh:

:D I do jewellery making @Bluetit1802
I could think of nothing I wanted or needed more than a nice set of pliers and a wooden stand......
Other than a nice set of cutters maybe.
Think it might be cutters for Xmas ;) Tronex or Lindstrom If I'm lucky :playful:
Hope you had a lovely day- only just catching up on here after being awol yesterday!!

6 today after a bit of a disturbed night. Mr ethyl is away so I woke up with every creak or noise.

6.0 on arising at 5.30 am  which is more middle of the night than morning as far as I'm concerned.
I was brave or stupid last night...... still can't decide which....... and tried a slice of the hub's pizza.
Yes he still insists on eating bad things occasionally, there's no stopping him, and it was our wedding anniversary so I let him off
I obviously paid for it though, with high readings, rising all evening, and raised BG when I went to bed and when I got up......albeit the middle of the night :D
4.7 this morning at half eight though, pre brekkie ........ :hilarious: so that's alright then.

One of these days @Dibbles1, I'm gonna do that. I LOVED my pizza topped with pepperoni, ham, cheese and meatballs. One slice would do me :) Happy anniversary by the way :)

Mike
