;) You'll get there x That's what the hub had, pepperoni, I did leave the stuffed crust, thank god!
Thanks @Mike D
I love my pepperoni Dibbs:) Guess with cold weather coming on, I'll be back to stir fry beef mince, cabbage (heaps of it), beans and curry pots :)

I got batch 61 yesterday and unfortunately readings are worse on this

Evening before tea
B44 was 5.5
B61 was 5.7

After dinner and it was again only salad
B44 was 6.0
B61 was 6.2

Fasting
B44 was 6.0
B61 was 6.1

I don't know what to do now, is it that my bs has increased or its my kit or its the moisture in my house.
Doc will not give me an a1c test so I can put my mind on ease
These readings in 6's are when yesterday I had virtually no carbs.
Breakfast was bacon egg and sausage
Lunch was an omlette
Dinner was pork and sauted veggies
No support from gp is really disturbing me now
I have taken another appointment and if she does the same I will definitely complain about her as whenever I have seen this doc it's always like a policy that if you have cough cold and fever you take 3 different appointments. If they have time slots of 10 mins for each patient then why fob them off in few seconds. Really frustrated with this doctor.

@brettsza Have you eliminated all the other possibilities that it may be an increase in your levels. You know, the usuals - change in routine/exercise, stress, underlying worries, some virus brewing, slight increase in portion sizes?

Good you have made another appointment, and insist on an HbA1c. Tell her just how worried you are. Failing that, I think you can have one at Lloyds Pharmacy (and maybe others) but you have to pay.

I've totally changed my diet since the beginning of February and have not had any potatoes, pasta, rice or my beloved artisan white bread. I only occasionally have a slice of Seed Sensations or Burgen Soya and Linseed.

Yesterday my food intake was:

Greek style coconut yogurt, mixed berries & 50 grams granola (after 2 hours 5.8)

1 large cup of homemade vegetable soup (after 2 hours 7.7)

Casserole lamb shank and Celeriac mash (after 2 hours 5.7)

Coconut yoghurt and raspberries (after 2 hours 7.2)

I think the coconut yoghurt didn't do me any favours as it's 10.4 g per 100g compared to my usual 5.1g.
Try the CoYo... pure coconut... live... lush... :)

Can I get mine done at Lloyds then? I don't mind paying.. it beats hanging around for a nurse's appointment and then waiting for results...

I have been trying to think a lot lately about what I have changed. I have reduced my carbs a lot more than what I was eating earlier when I was getting 4's and 5's. I was having a slice of burgen bread in morning and sometimes even in the evening. I was having the Indian bread roti 3 to 4 in a day wholemeal so my carbs have only got lesser and lesser. I just wrote what I had yesterday and I don't think I had too many carbs all day. Its been about 3 to may b 4 months now I have had a slice of bread not a single slice as my wife likes white and I was not able to finish burgen alone. Then I reduced my rotis from 3 to 4 to 1 a day and now I give that a miss too lot of times. Only carbs I have now is what's in cheese protien salad and all. I can't reduce anything anymore. What I had yesterday is what I am having almost everyday now. Proteins and salads most of the time.

Happy Anniversary... :)

Just in case you missed it Sable ....

Went to my docs this evening about my throat ... Pharyngitis.
The more interesting topic was my diabetes.
She's been reading my notes and reckons my readings are that good I could almost be considered none diabetic.
She admits she has been converted to the low carb message.
Low carb is the way forward she says.
The high fat she's holding judgement on for the time being but no statins and lower cholesterol is confusing her a bit.
Lets see in six months time.
She was about to take my blood pressure and stopped and said no .... I know it's not going to be of concern.
Amazing!
I'd only gone about my sore throat!
Had that a few years ago it was horrible hope you feel better soon :) big hugs ((( )))

5.1 this lovely morning.
Had snoopers in my garden at half four this morning ... a couple of camera flashes had them scooting pretty quick.

This carb business is a curious thing. I can also go too low carb. When I do that, it seems my liver is constantly trying to help me out, and my bloods actually creep up a bit. I know it's counterintuitive, but it happens; to me, at least.

I think you should review your records, and if you have stopped, restart for a while to see what's going on.

I don't know where you are, or whether your finances would allow it, but I found these interesting: http://www.millermedicalsupplies.com/a1cnow-hba1c-and-diabetes-monitoring-10-test-kit-4839

The number returned didn't exactly match my lab test, but on the couple of A1cs I had done, whilst I had these, the differential was exactly the same. Provided you calibrate at the outset, I think they're useful.

You must watch the protein Brettsza. Our bodies do process some protein into glucose especially when our carbs/fats are too low. Someone else may explain what happens properly. I do know, however, that Type1's often inject for protein. If you have too much, this may be a reason. Just a thought.

I dropped my carbs not long ago, and increased my fats, but as this was mostly down to cheese I also inadvertently increased my protein. My levels crept up. My before meal levels were creeping up, but the actual rises were dropping, so the drop in carbs was helping lower the post meal rises, but the added protein may have been the cause of the increased before meal readings, therefore impacting on overall levels. It seems to have stabilised back to where it was now, but I am watching my protein amounts more carefully.

5.8 this morning.
