Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

6.3 (same old, same old. Never varies. Getting fed up)

How often are you testing these days bluetit? If you are rock solid and want to pare back on testing, or want to concentrate on another time of the day, perhaps you only need test periodically in the mornings?

Just trying to find an upside.

At the moment I'm testing morning, bedtime, and before and after certain meals. My base level appears to be about 6.2 as its always the same morning fasting, before lunch and at bedtime, with a 1mmol drop before evening meal. (shorter gap between breakfast and lunch than between lunch and dinner) After lunch and dinner rises average 2.5. It's very stable so I'm not worried, just fed up of seeing 6! I have been told I must be naturally sweet!

Don't let the vampires know @Bluetit1802 they will all be after you unless they are of the diabetic variety ;)

4.7 for me this morning and 4.8 after an hour of exercise before breakfast.

I'm much the same, average 6.2 for the last couple of weeks, with little variation above or below that.

I've lost about 9 lbs weight in 5 weeks and my bg is generally lower and getting lower. I'm on a low carb high veg moderate protein diet and moderate daily exercise. I was wondering if weight loss affects bg levels?

Eating and exercising my way from manic to moderate Miriam.... and a steady blood glucose.

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

Hi my fasting reading this morning was 11.8, thats about the lowest they are all day

Hi, I have had DB2 for a couple of years now and spent most time beating myself into submission over high results. I eat like a monk, dont drink or smoke, 2 YEARS on, I have been made aware of the Dawn Phenomenon. Many sufferers will appreciate the findings of this scenario, if they (like me) have followed the food plan and yet still wake to a blood sugar of 8-9+.

A DB2 sufferer (without insulin shots), the pancreas does its job overnight of pumping sugar into the blood between 3-5 am. (Check your blood over a period of days during that time frame and watch it happening). I have had this debate with my DR and DN and they both agree with my findings. The rest of the day my blood is between 5-8 before and after meals. When I started testing it was 14-21.

I have reduced most medications and yesterday got My A1C's, and Cholesterol back to normal. Looks like I just gotta live with the early morning high result and content that all other results are normal.

Don't allow yourself to get disheartened, or let someone else's results put pressure on you. From regular testing above 14, to a high of 9, I am seeing good results and so will you

4.9.

I'm on week 2 of the Newcastle diet, which has so far seen my morning BG levels plummet, from previously 6-7 to now 4s and low 5s.

Yesterday's was 4.5

Yes weight loss has been my main tool to lower my levels. Back that up with exercise and you have the most powerful tools available in your arsenal for long term sustainable lower BG levels

Oh yes 4.5 this morning

5.7, that's a bit more like it.

I was 6.2 this morning.

I wish I could get it down or stable around 6.
