5.4 am after 7.0 last night.... portion control may have gone out the window after my first sub 4.0, before dinner....

First annual review starts today with bloods at 09:00.

Like what? I can't go to low on the carbs cause my genetic disorder means my body wastes half the food I eat. Roughly 70-80g carbs a day

Went to bed at 4.9 last night, I was a bit worried at being low at that time of night so I had a chunk of cheese and a couple of baby toms. 6 on waking this morning

5.2 at least this man flu is not effecting my BG levels, it's a funny old thing this T2, different strokes for different folks. Anyhow going to have a day in bed and try to sweat it out. Work can wait.

Have a good day everyone.
Enjoy the rest while you can:)

Popcorn contains almost pure starch in a very sugar-accessible form. It's 74% carbs and considered a high glycemic food. Interesting to hear about your genetic disorder - apologies if already covered - would be interested to know more? Thinking about it if you can't digest half your low carb meals can't you just have larger meals but still low carb?

Hi there, if you get the 'Carbs & Cals' Book, it's all simple pictures of over 1700 photo's of different foods on a plate, at a glance you can see the carbs and calories, it's really helpful & very easy to use, under a tenner on ebay.
Neil:)
Hi I'm interested in getting "that book" cos its a pain having to google stuff all the time ..who is it by ?

Why are you worried about 4.9 at any time - that's still mid to upper of the normal range?

4.6
Not really a fasting result as I've been awake since nine last night having spent all day yesterday in bed drugged up to the eye balls to escape spinal pain.
I've been drinking tea and had a couple of yoghurt's through the night.
Get well soon jack :)

Savoury low carb treats (hope you aren't veggie!); pork scratchings, crispy bacon, you can make crisps from various green veg (not tried this myself but is on the to do list), pumpkin or melon seeds, nuts - roasted or blanched and salted or unsalted, etc. Here is a page of good ideas:

Try googling the subject, read up on the varying opinions (like I did) and then come back to us with your considered viewpoint.

I have and still haven't got the point I think you are trying to make, sorry.

No problems at all :)

Supposedly some can tolerate straight popcorn, others cannot ...... I hate the stuff. The "savoury" was the bit that bothered me.

I have read that some starch can become less glycemic - reheated pasta, for example? I think is something to do with the cooling and then re-heating that 'hardens' the starch and makes it less digestible so maybe that happens with popcorn for some. Pure speculation but perhaps freshly cooked popcorn has different glycemic characteristics to packaged popcorn that was processed weeks or months previously. Nevertheless, my view is that there is plenty else to choose instead of carb-rich treats, so why risk it?

Thanx for good wishes.
I'm still hurting but loads better than yesterday.
I'm off to get three hours sleep shortly to recharge then off out on this cloudy dirty dark rainy day.
