Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

5.8 mmol / L this morning. :D
4.9 mmol / L at bed time.

Attribute the rise to an awful sleep - the worst in a long while! :(

Also a late (early morning) bed time and an early start.

Pleased with my figures despite the sleep situation. :D

Had porridge last 2 mornings but that took my bs to 8.5 so tried shredded wheat this morning guess thats a no no , just coffee to drink same as all ways and my gp said i dont need self test dont get me started on that one.

Just checked bs 2 hours after breahfast 19.4 feel bloody rough what can i do to get it down ?

That's a serious rise from fasting of 5.1 mmol / L ! :o

As well as it being the Breakfast you may have a Dawn Phenomenon prior to eating.

As others have said plenty of water and very gentle exercise - the key will be the intensity of exercise. I found a gentle stroll worked well for lowering my blood glucose. Don't be tempted to do any high intensity or even mild intensity exercise as that'll raise your blood glucose further. I would suggest you take a blood glucose test prior to and at half hour intervals after a "gentle stroll" to keep an eye on your levels.

Keep us posted on how you're doing.

Good morning. Today's FBG was 7.6, after 6.1 before bed. Bit of a jump - I wonder if some of the carbs I had on Tuesday night were slow digesting, and how long the effects may last...

Morning campers

5.4 fasting. Happy with that. Nice sunny day in the new forest. Walk and then trip to the seaside to go crabbing planned for today.

Hope you get your numbers down @oldman1954 .

Thanks my friends drank plenty of water , went for a walk just got back bs down to 5.1

Your not nosy just curious. It checks my full blood count liver, kidney functions and clotting levels because methatrexate can have some wonderful side effects. I have now got a lovely vimpire bruise:rolleyes:
Thank you :). Do you have some arnica cream for the bruise? Sometimes I've hardly a mark when bloods have been taken, other times like yours.....worst was when a Doctor in the hospital took it....
Fingers crossed all show you're ok x

Oh yes always got a tube of arinca cream it's brilliant stuff. I get the results next week when I go to the doctors.

Good morning. 8.6 this morning - obviously not as good as yesterday, but that's deliberate.

I had been gradually dropping my carbs to improve my numbers and was happy with that aspect of improvement, but by lunchtime I had a wicked false hypo (actually 5.8), accompanied, I think, by my ketones going quite high, making my kidneys throb painfully. I felt very poorly during the day and my husband said I was positively grey when he came in from work.

So I've gone back to the moderate carbs regime (approx 60-70g) that was working well for me and feel significantly better today for it. I think an even more gradual approach is needed - for me. My BG has been so high for so long that it's going to take longer to adjust and feel improvement than I was expecting.

I experienced much the same by diving into it too quickly. This time I've eased into lowering the carbs a bit more gently with a much better result. I certainly feel a lot better and more in control this way. may take a bit longer but will get there eventually :)

Thanks. I've been on my new lower carbs (already ate very sensible carbs as been doing this a long time and struggling with control) and insulin regime since March, so this about week 9, so it's not been overnight, but my body just isn't ready for the lower numbers yet. I spoke to the nurse that took my blood this morning and she wasn't surprised it was taking a while, my numbers have been a lot too high for a long while as we tried different meds etc. that didn't help. She said the fact that they were stable and even was more important than the actual number, I'd been fluctuating wildly before.

I feel quite a weight off this morning, just by making a decision on how to proceed. There feels quite a lot of pressure here not to eat carbs and I felt I was coming up short because I have a slice of bread for breakfast. But I simply feel better doing so - the quest for low numbers all the time is only part of the story.

The only thing that matters is you and the way you feel. I'm sure nobody wants you to feel pressured. Personally I welcome the advice, guidance and experiences of others and use it to make informed decisions that will fit with my goals.

You have to be guided by your own feelings and functions.

Its not a contest ! Its just sharing.....

its your journey so do it your way

Indeed, I've learnt a lot from here, having lurked for a long while before posting. But there is quite a focus on lowering carbs and whilst no pressure was actually applied and I'm not suggesting that it was, I felt it because I didn't feel able to go as far as others feel comfortable with. I just feel happier today in deciding that it's okay for me to find my own level - and if that's 70g carbs a day instead of 30g, then that's okay.

I find 60 - 70g of carbs is OK for me so your not alone there:)
Thanks. I still need to lower my [already significantly improved] numbers, but I'm also not up to my maximum anticipated insulin dose either, I just wanted to keep it as low as I can. Hopefully as I improve my exercise and drop some more weight, that will help too.
