Forgot to add to above post thst bs taken 90 mins later than norm as day off today, right on time for taking metformin!

Friday, 22nd. 4.7 at 6.15am. A bit higher than expected, but I've not been having enough sleep recently.
Sunny and windy day on the hill. Usual 5km and invigorated with the blowy conditions.
Great evening at the ballet this evening - Giselle - a favourite. Plenty of red wine ( 2 glasses) and came home at 2.30am. And the Parkrun is in 4.5 hours. I am planning some sleep afterwards.

Thanks Noblehead, I will persist with the fingers then.

I've read / heard of using ear lobes and apparently my freestyle lite can use blood from alternative testing sites - inside of the upper arm and even belly? I don't recall it mentioning consulting with health care provider if considering alternative testing sites but, it does seem wise to do so!

I seemed to remember in the dim and distant that if you did alternative site testing you needed to recalibrate your meter to do so (this was a very old meter, so it looks now to have changed), but looking at the instructions for my latest one, it does say that it's not suitable for post meal testing or potential hypo assessment as alternative sites don't have sufficient blood supply to react quickly enough - that for those readings fingers should still be used.

@brettsza mentioned not getting any blood out of an alternative site earlier - you perhaps need a different end to your lancet, which has a larger opening and is clear, allowing some flesh to be pressed into the hole, drawing the blood to the surface - it says to massage the skin first to promote blood flow then after applying the lancet, wait for the skin to change colour before drawing the blood.

Edited for clarity.
