on another note, said i was handling it all well.....but i really dont feel like i am...
I am so worried about you. Your blood sugar levels are extremely high! I don’t understand how they thought it was ok to discharge you from the hospital.
I agree with other posters who think that it is scandalous you were sent home in this condition. Already a bg of 18 is dangerously high anything over thirteen and you are told by doctors to test for ketones... telling you to go to the doctor’s surgery only when you are over 28 is criminal. I think you should check yourself into A&E as soon as possible. From what you have written I think you are type one. I realize that I am not a doctor and I am type one and not type two so I haven’t much knowledge of that type of diabetes but I really feel you are in danger.
Doctors don’t always get it right, we read about their mistakes all the time, because there is still an idea that you only get type one as a child so therefore you must have type two if you are an adult.
I was misdiagnosed many times before I was correctly diagnosed and they found me with blood sugar of 44! I almost died. I have no idea what the habalc was, but I can tell you I was pretty ill.
You really need to go to A&E those high numbers can cause lots of damage to your body.
If you hit 28/30 diabetic coma is very, very possible.
How are you feeling now?
You can buy ketone sticks from the chemist, they’re probably under 10 pounds as they cost around 11 euros where I live and you shouldn’t need a prescription. If you need a prescription, get an emergency one from your doctor today.
Please stay in touch on the forum to let us all know how you are. I’m sorry if I am alarming you I just want you to be safe.
