Type 2 Urination and low carb diets

Whilst more details would be helpful, when you first start a low carb diet you do lose a lot of water - it can be as much as 10lbs in weight in the first couple of weeks ! so intuitively it sounds like the diet is working :)

I was diagnosed a month ago with a count of 7. Overweight about 3 stone and have lost over a stone in a month. Diet fairly standard no potatoes, white bread, sugar, pastries etc all of which I loved! Just that the infernal peeing started about 2 weeks ago and moved from nights to normally afternoons and for some reason makes you feel a bit retched

When I started lchfing I turned peeing into an Olympic sport. Settled down after a few weeks. Thought I had come down with another problem at first?!!

I cannot find the post - but I think as you lose weight for a long long time you are removing water. Apparently fat gets protected in cells by water or the other way around so when you start to lose fat you lose more water. I also find that I drink more because I know this is what happens and I have also read diabetics suffer more from de-hydration.

My father who is a young 71 yr old is diabetic well controlled and is up every hour to go to the toilet during the night, not so much during the day but still a lot more then I go, on a working day I'm up at 4.45 am and in bed by 10pm and I only go max 3 times during the day. He's been to doctors and they cant find anything wrong with him. I dont think this is normal!

Do yo know what " well controlled" actually means - in terms of how much is controlled through medication and how much through diet? and what type of diet?

When eating very low carb and mostly nonprocessed foods one many times need to eat a little more salt , salt is essential to humans most nowadays do get too much But one can get to low while changing eating style very drastically keep and eye on that and maybe add a teaspoon full more Daily only a teaspoon though

By the way initially when starting metformin I also was up every second hour in the night to pee , Then I changed to eating my whole dose of metformin as the first thing in the mornings and I could again sleep a whole nights sleep without being interruptions , now one year later I still eat them at that time but if I occasionally forget my morning medicine it does not make such a big difference in sleep quality as it did initially , think my body has gotten used to the chemical
