Vit C is leached into the water when you boil vegetables.Meaning, it`s still there but not in vegetables.Make thick vegetable soups.

Over these last three years I am amazed by how much I've learned...and then forgotten... [giggle]

I'd seen this video by Dr. Berg previously. I liked it because it validated my decision to take nutritional supplements from organic, whole food sources as much as possible. I also thought it was interesting because of his discussion around the topic of co-factors.

Afterward I began reading the comments below the video. There was a good one by a poster named "Peto" from 3 years ago. It's maybe the 10th comment. I need to look further into this.

All I can say is that I take a vitamin C supplement that's made from organic, whole foods, but it's only 120 mg per capsule. When I tried three years ago to find a supplement that wasn't synthetic, there wasn't a lot to choose from, in part because I didn't want a vitamin C made from corn which is a GMO crop in the US. It wasn't easy. I need to learn more about this, also about high doses of vitamin C administered intravenously. This is new territory for me.

Interestingly, I crave citrus like you wouldn't believe. Lemons, limes, oranges. Might be the vitamin C, or it might be something else. Don't know.

No vitamin supplements are needed because daily requirements are very low and easily met with healthy balanced diet.
High doses are a joke because excess vitamin C is immediately excreted.
There are too many quasi scientific data online. Only evidence based medical researches are valid and they are found in Google scholar.

I did lots of research when I was found to have high serum calcium and from what I remember is that Vit D increases the uptake of calcium in the blood so if it is already high then it could reach dangerous levels .After many tests my high calcium levels are ---familial hyper calcium something cal calcium something else !!! No treatment needed

I find no added sugar squash is far to sweet so I buy a bottle of PLJ.... it is pure lemon juice made for drinks and no sugar or sweetener.. I just add some of that to still or fizzy water it makes a refreshing drink and is a good source of vitamin C.

There is growing evidence and ongoing research about the use of vitamin k2 in the disposition of calcium in the body.

Basically, K2 intake is inadequate in most Western diets. if people don’t take sufficient K2 then vitamin D and calcium don’t get ‘used’ properly, leading to calcium deposits in the wrong places, including in arteries.

K2 is currently being trialed as an option to prevent and potentially reduce atherosclerosis (calcification of arteries, including heart arteries), while simultaneously encouraging calcium deposits in the right places.

An additional factor is magnesium, which is needed to work in harmony with vit d and k2.
Many people also have inadequate magnesium intake too.

Edited for typo. I blame the keyboard. Every time.

Thanks, Guzzler. I love broccoli and it's on the menu tonight with fresh hake and cauliflower. Unfortunately peppers don't like me and I've never tried kale. Must look out for it next time we shop. Thanks again for your suggestions.:)

Kale is lush in my opinion. It tastes like what used to be called spring greens

I've been reading off and on about vitamin C over the last couple of days. I went through a similar process a few years ago. It's an exercise in frustration.

For now I'm going to stick with my organic, whole food vitamin C supplement, taken with breakfast or breakfast and dinner, my various low carb beverages made with freshly squeezed lemon, lime, and/or orange and sparkling water, sometimes red wine too, and avoid ascorbic acid made from corn.

I will also continue to eat fresh slices of lemon or orange with it's peel on at the beginning of the citrus season.

And if I have to have surgery at any point, I will take vitamin C prior to and following surgery along with other supplements recommended by doctors I trust and have followed over the years - (I don't know anything about Dr. David Williams whose article is linked below). According to one article, vitamin C is "necessary to build and rebuild collagen throughout the body. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant that supports the immune response." ( https://www.huffingtonpost.com/neal-m-blitz/surgery-vitamins_b_1159251.html )
