Was in hospital last week Ketoacidosis..now?

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now, and it can be a lot to sort through. Are you sleeping ok? I know from personal experience that lack of sleep can really drive up the numbers. I'm still trying to get the insomnia under control. Good luck to you. It'll all get sorted out.

To get rid of acid reflux naturally cut out all food with onion and tomatos.

You really ought to be asking for a camera...

I suspect you may be needing insulin. Please speak to GP about getting a camera check etc down in to your stomach.

Please in the interim see if you can remove anything tomatos/onions.

Hi all, I forgot to check my sugars this morning only i took a "Kalms" tablet last night to make me sleep, i got up at and went out shopping- retail therapy i guess. I had eggs and bacon at 9am and took my tablets- I have a horrendous tummy ache i must admit but have been home an hour, had some mixed nuts and a coffee and my sugars are 10.6 mmol! this is the best reading since coming out of hospital so I am very pleased.

In answer to some questions, when checked by the nurse on Christmas even I had no ketones though as she put it, my urine was like pure glucose, i am back in tomorrow morning just to see how i am doing. The reflux has been a constant thing for some 2-3 years now, i had the camera, barum, chest x ray to find nothing and my doctor put it down to anxiety only I had issues swallowing.

However, i did have an entire year with H Pylori and triple antibiotic therapy like 3 times in a year which made me incredibly ill, this was soon after being diagnosed T2 and this was the onset of the acid reflux, tummy aches, and general malaise.

Hi,
I had to be at my gp's early this morning and did not eat before leaving due to being so early, my sugars were 12.8mmol when i got up, she checked them when there and they were 12.6, not having any breakfast i did not take any medication only because last night i had the worst tummy ache and was being sick.

I also had to see the diabetic nurse and she said ideally, I should at least have a tiny amount of carbs?! When i came home at around 1.30pm i had egg, bacon and a small portion of weight watchers baked beans and did not take any meds, i went to sleep for 2 hours or so and when i woke up i was 10.2 mmol.

I just went to the shops and my sugars are now 8.1mmol! I am very surprised at this because i have not taken any metaformin or gliclazide today, the nurse told me to take them tonight after dinner. Now, unless my dinner takes my sugars right up again should i take them considering they are coming down quite fast and I am worried that medicating shall take them down too low in my sleep? any ideas? I would so love to know or understand what is going on... and my tummy ache has started again along with acid and i did take omeprazole...

Nobody but your Dr. or health care practitioner can advise on medications. You can however make your own decision but if you choose to not take the meds, make sure you test.

You should keep taking metaformin however low you BG gets as it has so many benfits protecting as from the effects of inslin resistance. I intend to take metaformin for life unless I start to get the side effects, however low my A1C gets.

As to the gliclazide, if your BG is often below 7 talk to your doctor about reducing the dose, but at your BG levels you have no real risk of hypos. Therefore I think you should do as your doctor says on the gliclazide and take it.

Spoke to the diabetic nurse yesterday and she agreed that I can take the slow release metformin as the fast release was giving me bad tummy aches, this does not seem to be upsetting me so that it good. Came home today and I am 6.2 mmol so something is working. over the last 3 years I have been ok and for me to be 7mmol was high. I have to wait until the new year and see how this works before they review my meds or whether i need the insulin though I am hoping things may settle down with some luck!

Sugar in milk ok or sugar in a tea/coffee ok if hypo...
I used to love milk with sugar in it!! Not the fattest acting for a hypo fix due to the fat in the milk but better than nothing.

Pure sugar cubes are goid too.

Make sure that tea / coffee if hypo treatment is fairly cool... I have been known to throw glasses around so any liquid for me has to go into a childs tommy tippee non spill, non break mug...
