Not a great lot.. Jazz, People who think they are better than others..
Hello All...

I'm a diabetic T2, but I have been a member of Slimming World for a couple of years.. and when i started i was 25stone, but i'm down to 20stone 7lbs.. so thats a 4.5stone weight loss..

Yes i do find it hard at times... but i do persevere, if i put a couple of pounds on then i work to get it off again.. and yes i do find chocolate a bit hard to not eat..

Cholesterol level is 4, it never moves up or down.. the good ch in the blood is 1.99, the bad ch in the blood is 1.98, so one out weighs the other, and does occassionally bring it down to a negligable level..

But being a former chef, i find adapting food recipes quite easily, so trying new food ideas is great.. and now i have published my first book on soups that are suitable for those who are diabetic (had it checked by my Diabetic Consultant) and also for those on a frugal budget..

But exercise is a bit of a bugbear with me because of a disability (born with it).. it creates so many problems, even to the extent of walking 20yards can be hard some days..

But as with many others of my friends, who were born with the same disability, and have diabetes we will not give up who we are or how we relate to life.. Stubborn is the word my other half says..

Some days its like stuffing a cushion with veg and free food, even super-free food, but i will continue until i can get to my ideal weight..

Regards

To continue the story...

My weight loss is now even greater, I am 5st 2lbs down, with a waist line from 54inches to 48 inches and going down... Slimming World is ideal for me and i would recommend it to anyone even diabetics, you can depending on where you live and if the scheme is running in your area... get assistance from your GP for Slimming on Referral.. ask about it... try it... it can work..

There are quite a few folks who go to our classes who are diabetics.. so it must work...

Being a diabetic
Fantastic weight loss - well done

I take it you mainly follow the red days ? Do the follow the diet properly, 2 x a choices and 2 x b choices? I am tempted to join on Wednesday evening and as you have done so well I will xx

Hi ,

Sorry for the delay in replying, To answer your question, i try and do Extra Easy, but interspace with mainly Red days... but more often or not i drift from the plan...

I try and eat a healthy diet... but interspace with sweet items also.. I have been known to have Vegetable Soup for lunch with a Cheesecake for dessert.. but i tend not to use as much milk, only on cereal, rarely in tea, (prefer it black or herbal / fruit), drink loads of water.. about 8 litres a day.. chew loads of gum.. but always have glucose tablets, full fat pop and bisuits in the car in case oif emergencies..

Weigh day, which for me is a Wednesday, see's me having Melon for breakfast, with melon and berries for lunch.. Tea is normally Salad and Chicken, unless i've been cooking and have put something in the slow-cooker..

I find that Slimming World works great with Diabetics, it may not be for everyone, but our group has at least 5 or 6 diabetics, through to 5 groups over the 2 days.. and I know there is a diabetic nurse who comes in also but she is a target...

Considering ive been going since 2002 and find it really good... i'm now 19st 8lbs.. and lower waist line..

If anyone has any questions please let me know..

regards

Peter
