There's nothing magical about the maple/cayenne/lemon combination. You lose weight because if your body's not getting calories from meals, it uses the energy reserve called glycogen which is stored around the muscles. Every gram of glycogen is stored with 4 grams of water, which also drops off. This is why the first few pounds drop off really quickly, on this or any other very-low-calorie diet, then evens out. But not much of that initial weight loss is fat. Weight does NOT always = fat, unfortunately.

And you'll be in REAL trouble if Ambrennan spots it!borofergie said:Grazer said:Not taking the micky, but 2000g of water weighs 2000g! i.e, 4.4 pounds.
Actually, 2000g of water weighs 19.6133 N.
grams are a unit of mass not weight. You need to multiply the mass (2kg) by the acceleration due to gravity (9.80665 m2/s).
I hope RussG doesn't see this, or I'll get another telling off for being an engineering pedant (redant, deadant).

FergusCrawford said:The average atomic mass of natural hydrogen is 1.00794 u and that of natural oxygen is 15.9994 u; therefore, the molecular mass of natural water with formula H2O is (2 × 1.00794 u) + 15.9994 u = 18.01528 u. Therefore, one mole of water has a mass of 18.01528 grams. 8)

FergusCrawford said:No, not molecule, mole.
Not sure where Ambrennan is, but there's the probability (or is it possibility?) of 4.67 to power of N where n is =<> than 2.6 that he's reading an encyclopaedia somewhere.chocoholicnomore said:What a hilarious thread
Lost the plot after the first post but enjoyed the humour. (first time I've laughed out loud in ages)
Well done to you all.
PS BTW Where is AM Brennan these days?
