Waiting to be called for blood test , strange that I have been tested every 3months over the past year because my blood sugar went up and nurse wanted me on pills , got the level dropped from 66 mmol to 54 and nothing , lost some more weight and want to find out what blood sugar level is , looks like I will have to request a test for some reason.

Weight has little impact on my blood sugars @John 2 . I’m one of these thin diabetics. I do tend towards exercise to control my blood sugars. I’m not simply ‘burning’ my sugars off , I’m looking to maintain muscle mass. Your muscles are the biggest users of blood sugars. I also do weights. I find weights helpful, but not heavy weights, those bump my blood sugars up.

No , I am not , was going to , but saw no real point having looked into it .
What made you decide that @John 2?

It’s your choice of course but how do you know what the food you are eating & if the meds are working for you?

Some say on here it’s like driving a car without a speedometer. A testing kit & testing on first bite & 2hrs later to see if that food/meal has been suitable for you is the #1 best thing you can have in your armoury against diabetes in my opinion.

Have a read of this link (also in my signature) it’s for newly diagnosed but there’s a bit about testing and the range you should be in after food. I personally try to keep to below 7 2hrs after first bite, but that’s my personal goal. You really are running blind without testing

I can understand taking that position if you're not actively trying to manage your BG, but it sounds like you are trying to. Relying on only the HbA1c is a bit like (to my mind) setting off on a journey to somewhere you don't know and only checking where you are once a week.

Testing my BG and applying the information it gave me was probably the biggest single factor in being able to control my BG. I don't know how I'd having done it without regular testing.

Officially, the NHS still advises that "T2s don''t need to test". If they didn't take that line they'd be obliged to supply testing kits and strips to everyone diagnosed with T2 who wanted them - and that's a big number and a big expense.

There are no tests being done at the moment due to the testing labs being on strike
I had mine last Friday, nothing on Gp surgery about lab strikes but I am down South so maybe different?

Well done on getting your blood sugar down from 66 to 54, especially alongside the weight loss. It’s understandable that you’d want to know where your levels are now after having regular tests before. Hopefully you can get the blood test arranged soon and get some clarity.
