As I’m Autistic I eat a very narrow range of foods and whilst I can take care of Lunch (sometimes) and evening meals are okay, I never have any dea what to eat for breakfast.

I can’t eat seeds or nuts.
I don’t like bread/toast.
I find cereal, if I can’t put anything on it eg artificial sweetener, is just too bland and makes me retch.

So..any suggestions ?

Thank you

Hi Patrick, can you tell us what type of diabetes you have and what meds you’re on if you’re comfortable doing so. Do you follow a specific diet? If you can tell us this info you’ll get appropriate advice.

Hello.

It’s the 2 for which I’m on slow release metformin, max dose.

I’m also on a range of other meds for fibromyalgia, gout, IBS and a vitamin deficiency.

I suffer from huge stress and an anxiety disorder.

No, not @ regular diet. Rarely eat breakfast, hence the question, soup for lunch and then meat and veg for dinner. It rarely varies.

Greek yogurt for me with some cream and depending on mood maybe Kale, or strawberries or both or neither. Always the yog though, super quick, 4g/100 easy.

Could you manage a cheese and mushroom omelette as they are easy to make and cook.

Yogurt can make me retch. It’s one of those foods that gives me sensory problems.

Strawberries or raspberries I could manage.

Can I drink tea or coffee still ?

Tea or coffee is fine, no sugar of course and go easy on the milk as it contains lactose a type of sugar.
What’s the view on artificial sweeteners ? I’m never sure. My Mum, who was a type 2, used sweeteners in her tea.

Find a sweetener you like. Don't use xylitol if you have pets.

If you can fry an egg you can make an omlette. Just beat the egg or eggs in a bowl and season. Pour the mixture into the hot fat, sprinkle with your favourite stuff, cook, flip, job done. It doesn't matter if it breaks up a bit.

I mean, I know I should be able to make them but they never turn out as I expect. Still, I suppose scrambled eggs are just as good.

I use sweeteners they don't seem to have an adverse effect on my blood sugars but you would have to test as with any food they can effect people differently I quite often have mackerel with scrambled eggs for breakfast most fish is OK to eat just miss out the ones you have difficulty with and most meats are also OK.
