Hi all,
Longtime reader, first-time poster.
This forum helped me to understand the link between good control and regular testing, which had been going OK until this week.
The last couple of days my FBG has been awful — 9.2 and 9.7, when it used to never be over 6 and often early 5s. (It hasn’t been this bad since diagnosis.)
I’ve cut back on evening snacks and had not eaten for about 12 hours in both cases (and was happy with blood sugar after eating and at bedtime) so wonder if it could possibly be Somogyi effect rather than Dawn phenomenon, even though I’m not on insulin...? Either way, I’d love to know if/how you managed to tame it.
I’m on Linagliptin and not officially low-carbing, although I’ve been eating fewer carbs than ever the last few weeks as I got a bit more religious about testing! I can’t exercise due to disabling illness.
I think the best thing to do is probably test in the night a few times so I can understand what’s going on. I thought I’d try a Freestyle but turns out my phone is incompatible so finger prick it is...
