Im fed up and depressed of eating, if i eat something it sends my sugars high, cant get sugars below 7 at all had 25grams porridge made with water and i shot from 8.8 to 11.8. this stops me eating when my.sugars go so high and i.dont know what to do.im so depressdd,dr wanted md to try lyxumia but the thought of pancreatic cancer frightens me

I've had to give up the oats porridge too, it just spikes me to much, try eggs or if you have time a cooked breakfast, or you could try a flax/sunflower seed porridge, or even go German style, cold meats and cheese

Porridge affects people differently, some tolerate it well, others, like yourself, don't. If it's a breakfast you're looking for then a nice omelette is a great start to the day and will have little or no effect on your BG levels. You can have it with cheese or mushrooms ? You can also have sausage or bacon. It's not easy giving advice as I don't really know your taste. There are options out there, trial and error is key. Hope you find something suitable soon.

If you want to eat porridge, make it with water and add nothing at all to it. Use the rolled organic wholegrain oats from Lidls.

I do sympathise, mortigger, I love porridge but had to give it up because it sends my BG up. And I remember that awful depressed and frightened feeling after my first dietician's appointment of not daring to eat anything and finding that even when I ate the foods she recommended my BG went relentlessly up and up. The answer for me was low carb. I now eat a cheese omelette for breakfast or home-made yoghurt made with double cream instead of milk, and I drink coffee with double cream.

Thanks all it happenwd again today at awwake i had quiche but scooped out the filling left the pastry, 3 chicken drumsticks,3 cocktail sausages, one triangle if a sandwich,2chunks cheese and 2pieces pineapple with the cheese and i jumped from 4.5 to 10.5, to me that was hardly anything why did this happen, it was mainly protein.

Hi. Hot porridge produces a high-GI carb as it breaks down the cells in the oats. Try is as a museli with added seeds etc. I have a small quantity of that plus eggs and bacon. What meds if any are you on? What was your last HBa1C?

No andy thats why im confused, seems like i cant eat anything at all i purposely made sure i.had minimum carbs i studied the table and worked out what i was having before i went to the table.i.was thinking i cud maybe have lada?

Im on 1000 metformin slow release twice a day and last hba1c was 6.5… i.used to be on insulin but i was doing well so.endo said come off but since i have sugars have been rising

id try to talk to your doctor again maybe, dont think you can ignore spikes like that :(

Yes andy seeing my endo the end of the month so im going to do a food diary and bs til i.go maybe i need to go back on insulin, maybe im type 1.5

hope it all works out for you, i suppose all you can do is keep a close eye on it until then which you seem to be doing :) as you say, you cant not eat :(
